Hypnospace Outlaw is a '90s internet simulator in which you scour Hypnospace's wide variety of weird and wonderful websites to hunt down wrongdoers, while also keeping an eye on your inbox, avoiding viruses and adware, and downloading a plethora of apps that may or may not be useful.
As part of your job as a Hypnospace Enforcer, you'll be watching out for copyright infringement, internet bullying and more, with reports and rewards coming direct from the Hypnospace Patrol Department to your inbox. In your spare time, you can customize your HypnOS desktop however you see fit, with a variety of downloads, wallpapers, screen savers and helper bots to keep you company.

Rip Dreamsettler. I love games that take this much care in establishing their own believable, crazy little fake communites. Best freeform detective game of all time.
i love funny internet browsing (genuinely though this is such a fun and unique game. i have not yet beaten it but i really enjoy it a lot. the ost and humor is so good.)
The game can be finished in a few days. Probably longer, if you're a completionist. IMPORTANT: THE GAME'S NOT OVER UNTIL THE CREDITS ROLL. I misunderstood the final section as post-game, but the story is still going at that point. In general the game is somewhat similar to Hacknet, except you can play most of it with a mouse. The setting is a bit more civilian and you basically play as a forum moderator for in-universe version of MySpace. The world has quite a lot of depth, you can see blogs about music, nerd rage, old people crashing out about freedom of speech, teenagers having beef, tons of misinformation and all the other stuff you'd expect to see on social media. Very much recommended. Props to betatesters too. I can't imagine testing something like this.

HYPNOSPACE IS REALLY REALLY COOL. ALL THE KIDS ARE TALKING ABOUT IT AT SCHOOL.
It’s the first game I ever bought on Steam, but I only managed to finish it now because back then my English wasn’t good enough for such a text-heavy game. At the time I loved it purely for the aesthetics and the soundtrack (they were so good, the classic retro vibes, and honestly I’ve never found anything quite like them in other playlists) After finally finishing it, though, I just feel sad. So much heart was put into every character, and it’s already satisfying just randomly browsing and seeing how their lives go. And I feel so sorry for Mavis and Rodney, it’s always the goofy stuff that hits the hardest
It's hard to describe how much this game has amazed me, it's so lore rich and complex I don't understand how it only has 96% positive reviews... Sounds dumb but it really deserves MORE. Only reason I wouldn't recommend is if you don't like reading as you'll have to read a bunch obviously, but other than that I would recommend it to anyone. Seriously give it a try, it has earned a spot on my top 10 fav videogames <3
A one-of-a-kind love letter to the internet, both the good and the bad, simultaneously nostalgic for a time gone by and haunted by a future that never came. Features some of the best character writing I've ever seen and uniquely captures the experience of browsing random webpages in the middle of the night, falling down rabbit holes for hours and completely forgetting whatever it was you set out to do in the first place. I didn't expect a game that gives you Counselor Ronnie in the first hour of gameplay to have me tearing up by the end, but here we are. Genuinely a fantastic experience, one that's earned an instant place in my top 10 games of all time. There's a lot more I could say, but this is a game that should be experienced as blind as possible. Play it.
