Personally I haven't wrote a negative review for many games as I usually just shrug and move on, but I have to say with this one I can't recommend it because the dev team has been fired and the development has ceased. The game is playable sure but it's pretty difficult in a "not very tuned" sort of way. As someone whose played tons of rogue likes, rogue lites, souls likes, and tons of other "difficult" games this one just stands at as poorly optimized for the player to have any sort of actual fun while playing it. While the vision is definitely there, it's still just that, a vision. It won't ever be a complete game and it's very disappointing to see that.

It's so disappointing to hear that Heart Machine suddenly ceased all development on this game. I was really having a good time with it, but it performs really terribly on the Deck. Was really hoping for some further optimizations for that. I guess now that that won't be happening, I would really like my money back.
It had above average combat mechanics (Good combat) , and it looks flashy and bright (Good graphics). Where it really sucks is the overall gameplay and vison (very poor). It feels like the developers didn't know where the direction of the game was headed and didn't even understand how to start it. It feels like a good idea brought to life but after the very very basics were created they hit a wall and just started adding certain things that make it more complicated due to them not building upon the ground up on the game. It had potential to be a great game but Overall Its sad to see that the developers finally threw in the towel with this project realizing they didn't do a great job.
i will never buy a game from heart machine ever again, i hate how this game turned out,
Combat is fun but isn't rewarding, not enough currency provided, so they either bump up the rewards or free med kit replenish after certain amount of kills, also the bigger enemies are annoying to fight i.e crystal golem since they spam crystal spikes (would be really cool if they break when you melee attack them, give the player some agency when fighting enemies instead of waiting around for openings), increase parry time window especially if multiple enemies can attack (also dev please add ability to parry multiple enemies with single parry so that parrying isn't worthless compared to dodging). Also inventory system makes me wants to punch babies it is terrible. I shouldn't have to hit two buttons to decide whether to pick up or discard, comparison should popup when you stand over the item, then it should be tap rb to pick up, hold to dismantle. (dev please bring back ability to carry over weapons and armor between runs (without durability because that is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid to add) Lock On camera is bad as well love only being able to see feet when locked on
Breaker’s actually a solid game — not nearly as bad as some people say. The open-world + roguelike works well. It gives you way more freedom compared to traditional roguelikes, and I really enjoy that kind of unpredictability in a run. Super hyped to see what new heroes and maps they add in the future!
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Devs got fired and the game's development is gonna end, this project was nothing but a huge mess with no real directive on what they wanted to do from the start. This game had potential too, shame we won't be able to see it properly finished.
Its really sad I have to write this because I really wanted this game to be great, it started out rough but I had hope they'd build it up more and make it something truly great. But I forgot the actual price you pay when purchasing a "Early Access" game. Since then this has been completely abandoned by the publishers, leaving it in a completely unfinished state that's nowhere near worth the $30 price tag. There is no actual reason to buy this unless you are just THAT into Hyper Light Drifter that you GOTTA see how this game is, and even then I'd spend my cash elsewhere. But I suppose I should thank them for reminding me why I don't buy early access very often.
this game is fine and has a lot of potential but sadly none of it will be realized as it is getting discontinued.
