Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.14/day in the week to Aug 26 → 16.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I really don't get this game. It starts off poorly by showing a black screen whilst it loads and, whilst it has only crashed once, it feels like it is crashing every time it starts. Things happen apparently at random - the game doesn't bother to tell you why anything is happening. A city can be growing one turn and be starving the next. Your religion can be spreading to neighbouring states one turn, and losing ground in your own the next. It can say your army is stronger, but then have it wiped out by the weaker attacker. I'm done! It may be fine when you learn the game, but it just isn't fun in the meantime.
As a fan of Civilization games since the very beginning, Humankind does a lot of things right. The combat system is the most innovative and tactically interesting out of any Civilization-type game, and the Eras system is a fresh take on the civilizational progress. The opportunity to change your Civ through the game is a novel idea that really works to make each Era feel more unique and without anachronistic civs (no more Babylon in the 19th century or England in the Stone Age). The one sore point for me is the completely bland and generic AI leaders that have no memorable personas or connection to their civilization. It would have honestly been better to just not leaders at all.
Pros: - Interesting ideas that distinguish it from most other 4X games - Clear and functional UI and art style that evokes history - Excellent early game design that captures the birth of civilizations Cons: - Culture-switching is controversial and loses some of the charm of Civilization - Economy snowballs out of control too easily - There are no early "game end" conditions even if one player is dominating Humankind is reinvention of the Civilization formula that innovates in the major building blocks of the genre. The one where it succeeds the most is the early game exploration. Instead of founding a city in the dark, you start in the Neolithic Era scavenging food and fighting animals to increase your population and to find your first city spots, which you will later populate by settling down your hunter-gatherers once you enter the Ancient Era. This switching of eras and picking new cultures every time is the most controversial part of the game. While it provides a feeling of constant development and changes in gameplay, it also leads to the loss of a strong identity for your civilisation. Once in the Ancient Era, the city and economy building will begin. This is a (thankfully) simplified version of the Civ 6 district system. Districts placed on the map boost each other by adjacency, so there's a strong incentive to specialise your cities, but in practice straightforward district spam leads to super-linear economic growth without much need for optimisation. On top of this, building infrastructure multiplies the already abundant resource production. Combined with the free choice of cultures, this leads to hyper-productive economies and an abundance of everything in the later eras. There are balancing mods available, but it is one of the weaker aspects of the game. Diplomacy and war are well executed in Humankind. Combat is 1UPT but units can be grouped into armies that are easy to move around and then spread out when combat begins. Combat is executed three rounds per turn, and battles can go on for several turns. This design allows for large armies without having to move dozens of units around one by one but also makes battles last quite long. Diplomacy is based on accumulated advantages building up over time to achieve domination over other cultures and offers more options than usual in 4X games. The game is won based on the final score, but each era has its own scoring system, so it is possible to win even if someone else achieves the "game end" condition first. This means that games tend to go long as the fastest "game end" condition is the space race, and I found the Fast game speed to be the most balanced option available. While not without its flaws, Humankind is sufficiently different from the Civ-series that it provides a unique experience worth playing.
Humankind is a fun, novel departure from the done-to-death Civ formula. It's not perfect, but the art, vibes, city planning and diversity of civs and cultures make it worth your time.
