I cannot cut the tube, I don't want to risk a blade coming that close to the "Horse." I cannot cut the "Horse" free from the larger object to give me more access. I can't cut it. I can't freeze it, even if the plastic will break easily with the smash of a hammer. Reattaching the "Horse" after removal from the "magnifying" glass is not possible. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE "Horse" AND THE LARGER OBJECT REMAIN UNHARMED.
Abstract
Since the early 2000s, the popularity of horse racing in Japan has been declining. Between 2006 and 2018, attendance dropped by over two million people. The next year, attendance increased for the first time in over a decade– an event that coincided with the release of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby anime. Following COVID-19, attendance continued to increase, with its biggest jump in 2021 after the release of the video game. However, the resurgence in popularity was not solely from the quality and subject matter of the game. Rather, it stemmed from the capitalization on the popularity and culture surrounding music idols in Japan. All of this would combine into a series where real-life racehorses were transformed into anime-style characters that the players/watchers would learn about and grow connected to from watching them race, grow, and most importantly, perform. Together, this would result in the resurgence in popularity for the Japanese horse racing scene through the incorporation of Japanese idol culture into the Umamusume: Pretty Derby media series.
