Follow the journey of Jarl Eirik Stormborn and his sworn companion Torvald Ironhand as they leave Ravenmark behind and set sail in search of glory, wealth and new lands to conquer.

Castles are the backbone of every realm.

Instantly hooked on this brilliant strategy game! Nothing too fancy here, just a really great game design that delivers. Developer struck a perfect balance; simple up front but complex under the hood, with tough, challenging, and fun gameplay. Plenty of different modes/content, very replayable. I look forward to more of getting demolished while learning the subtle points to master this game!
I have been having a lot of fun getting to learn this game. It feels similar to some of the Strategy & Tactics games I bought for my mobile phone, but with significantly more rigor in understanding and working with the, well strategies and tactics.:) That said, I enjoy games I have to sink my teeth into, like 4X games from Civ, Total War, and Europa Universalis. This feels like a great in between game where it has enough depth to make it worth the grind to conquer the campaign, but light enough not to feel like I have to overinvest time and is has skirmish modes so I can fit it into my myriad of other games, hobbies and life fairly easily. That said, I know it is still getting polished, so while I give it ecstatic praise, I do think there are opportunities to improve some of the faq type sections to understand the thrust I should be going after on some of the maps. For example I did most of the first maps in 3-6 tries, but I've been stuck on "Three Banners on One Shore" after more than 10 tries and it caused me to put it aside for a bit...but I couldn't help but come back an finally cracked that map. It does take a lot of work to nail down, but it is rewarding work and I've felt it engaging and gaming time well spent.

Pretty limited. Your success in the missions is determined by the presence of gold and iron in the hills you occupy which is decided by RNG. So your ability to win is determined by RNG. Your army size is limited by the food produced by your provinces which was controlled by the pre-made maps. So your access to food in the early game was predetermined by the guy that made the map. In short, this game is just about having you guess how the dev wanted you to succeed in the mission, which is determined by RNG. Meh.
Great game! Has kept me engaged for hours at a time (including the demo, which isn't reflected in my playtime hours here). But can be played in short sessions as well, allowing you to play the campaign at your own pace. Had a few recommendations for the developer after playing the demo, and he responded very positively right away. He's already got most of the tweaks coming up in the update. Clean gameplay, graphics are spot-on in style, clarity and vivid depiction of each warrior type as well as the terrain. Just a good all-around immersive vibe. Strategic decisions are dependent on the tactical capabilities of the various troop types. As you progress, just because you CAN afford a higher tier unit doesn't mean you SHOULD buy it over a less expensive one. This is because each unit has inherent skills that you may need depending on your strategy and the situation of that particular army on the battlefield. For example, if I am fielding one of my armies for both conquering and then defending the castle I conquer, I choose to load up on the units that have siege labor ability as well as defense capability. So for example a large group of Spearmen, though technically less robust than a smaller group of knights, is perfect for the job because they can build the siege equipment necessary to conquer the fort or castle, and then occupy and defend, because their Spears have double attack value when they are defending. HOWEVER, depending on the state of your economy (based on the regions you've conquered), you may find that you are short on food production, and so as you progress, knights and royal guards are great because you only need to feed 50 knights rather than 200 spearmen, for example. Now that being said (regarding favoring certain unit types for different situations), I still must balance my armies with archers and/or crossbows (for armor piercing) and horsemen for flanking and pursuing retreating enemies. And it feels good when you get to the point of affording a sizeable group of royal guards in your army to put it over the edge of battlefield supremacy. At the same time, when you scout the enemy you may find he has them too, so you are in for serious fight. For me, the interplay between choosing your troops, growing your economic regions, choosing your fort and castle locations and upgrades (based on terrain), makes me appreciate the challenges and decisions a dark age or medieval commander had to face - and it makes for a very engaging and enjoyable game.
Surprisingly challenging! Great value! Fun!
Still getting rekt, 10/10 would lose to AI again.. Awesome game for people who appreciate turnbased strategy!
Nice little game that brings memeory back to Warlords on Amiga combined with the Risk board game. Fun and challenging on higher difficulty levels
For me the cost is worth the content i played. its simple, but still gives a real challenge, and i have only ran into a few bugs that did not break the game for me. would recommend to any strategy lover.
This is a simple yet deep turn-based medieval indie strategy game where you lead a Viking clan to total conquest through resource management, nation-building, and tactical warfare. Units are combined in an army, and battles take place on one tile rather than being spread out on a ‘one unit per tile’ basis like some turn based games. The game mechanics are well thought out and are more complex than they first appear on the surface. The AI is challenging and it doesn’t cheat. I've had a lot of fun playing this so far.
This game just works; everything is designed well and makes the game a pleasure to play. I'll call this game a 4X lite, but it is a 4X game, and all elements are here to use. The random maps are great, in fact the maps make this game, each province has a few features, and you can discover more ore as time goes by. You can also improve a province to get more resources and people. This is a game built very well and is good for taking a break from other heavy strategy games.
