About

Become a Viking warlord and forge a kingdom through conquest, expansion and war. Lead armies across a fractured medieval world, seize territory, besiege castles and outmaneuver rival rulers in a turn-based strategy game where every decision matters and every victory is earned.
Follow the journey of Jarl Eirik Stormborn and his sworn companion Torvald Ironhand as they leave Ravenmark behind and set sail in search of glory, wealth and new lands to conquer.
Begin with a small realm and rapidly expand your influence across neighboring lands. Secure resources, grow your population and transform a modest stronghold into a kingdom capable of dominating the world.
Every region strengthens your war effort, providing the resources needed to sustain armies, develop castles and fuel further expansion.
• Conquer and control strategically valuable territories
• Grow your population and economy
• Secure food, wood, stone, iron and gold
• Expand across diverse landscapes and terrain
• Turn a minor kingdom into a dominant power

Victory belongs to the ruler who plans ahead.
Success depends on choosing the right battles, building effective armies and striking at the perfect moment. Terrain, army composition, troop readiness and timing can determine the fate of entire kingdoms.
Whether launching a lightning invasion or preparing for a prolonged war, every campaign demands careful planning.
• Counter enemy armies with superior compositions
• Exploit terrain advantages during campaigns
• Manage army readiness and fatigue
• Choose when to advance and when to regroup
• Master the art of strategic warfare
Castles are the backbone of every realm.
Upgrade fortifications to strengthen your defenses, unlock stronger units and secure your borders. When the time comes to attack, every siege becomes a strategic challenge requiring careful preparation and the right tools for the job.
A poorly planned assault can cost an army. A well-executed siege can bring down an empire.
• Build and upgrade powerful castles
• Unlock stronger military units
• Assault enemy strongholds using ladders, battering rams and trebuchets
• Adapt siege tactics to every situation
• Capture heavily fortified regions

Every kingdom plays by the same rules.
The AI receives no free armies, hidden resources or artificial advantages. It expands, recruits, attacks and defends using the same systems available to the player.
If you lose, it is because your opponent outplayed you.
• No cheating AI
• No hidden bonuses
• Strategic decision-making driven by risk and reward
• Three difficulty levels for different experience levels

This is basically the old Vikings:Fields of Conquest with meaningfull upkeep rules to prevent doomstacking and vastly, vastly improved siege rules. Given it also has hotseat, it's as close to perfection as one can expect.
I think the game is a 5.5/10, so I do barely recommend it. However I also think the game is very overpriced for what it is, buy it on sale. At the core this game is a very simplified take on the "dudes on a map" formula. You have armies that move around the hex grid, taking territories and gaining resource income. You can build defenses to create chokepoints, upgrade areas to produce more resources, and recruit more troops. The first hour or so of gameplay is great as you play through your first 3-4 missions and learn the mechanics. The simplified approach means the game is fast to learn. Winning missions unlocks cards which give you a starting resource boost in all of your future missions. I especially like the scenario missions, and there is also what appears to be a 7 mission campaign. After the first hour the game really starts to lose its luster. There is only 1 music track. You always play as the same faction with the same armies available. This means that once you figure out the trick to winning, every mission starts to feel the same. Build a chokepoint defense to stall the enemy. Have a couple smaller armies run around the map claiming easy resources. Build a doomstack of knights to break the stalemate. Win. At hour 2 there was nothing new to be learned or any new strategies that I hadn't already seen in the first hour. I kept going through the slog after the second hour. Nothing changes. No variety. A few different starting resource cards is not a feeling of progression when the base gameplay never changes. So, what is the price for one hour of good fun? For me the $15 asking price was very high for only 1 quality hour of gameplay. You could endlessly grind the same units, resources and mechanics I suppose, and if that is fun for you then maybe this game is worth the price. That first hour IS very fun. You have been warned about the complete lack of depth.

Very good turn based strategy game. The graphics are nice, the gameplay is fun, and the game is easy to understand but still gives a good challenge I like the battles, building my kingdom, and planning the next moves. The AI is not stupid and can punish mistakes, so winning feels good I really recommend this game
A chill, simple, intuitive strategy game wherein you can still execute complex strategies, but without the bloat or feature creep that plagues grand strats. UI, turn-to-turn game loop, and art style are intuitive, straightforward, and engaging. I definitely get "one more turn" and it's fun from beginning to end. COM/AI players feel balanced--challenging without feeling like cheaters (various difficulty options too). Mode variety and replayability are there in the full version with a wealth of campaign missions, scenarios, and more. Runs great, looks good, loads quickly. Tutorial is solid and you can get a hang of the game quickly. The solo developer is very communicative, works hard to consume and respond to feedback, and appears to have a passion for this game. It's RISK! expansion meets Catan economy with Civ units, or, much like Risky Strats if you've played that. I've seen a rare remark here or there that $15 is steep, but you can get hours and hours of quality game out of the demo. I spent seven hours in the demo and still didn't complete all the available content before deciding to get the full version, and I'm on a tight gaming budget. 10+ hours review (with 7+ hours in the demo)
That's a good game for its value! It has a good, challenging difficulty that makes you want to come back and win. The setting keeps good atmoshpere with visuals and audio. The game seems to be simple in terms of rules, so anyone can get to understand it quickly but later you'll have much fun trying to fight off those pesky vikings. Feels a bit like a board game with an urge to play just... one... more... turn...
A real gem from the Viking ages! SImple but hard, I like to compare it to Hex of Steel (WWII era) in the way it is executed (although much simpler) - great loop, art, audio and UI. Slow pace, makes you think, and shuffles enough parameters around to make you take both correct and wrong turns. Disclaimer: I have only scratched the surface of the game, but I like it already. I can tell the dev seem very responsive to feedback and devoted to improving the game where possible. Totally recommend this very interesting indie-title!
Excellent game with simple mechanics that still provide interesting decisions and flavor. Similar to other indie strategy games like High Strategy: Oradros and Ozymandias, but a bit more crunchy and probably my favorite of the bunch. Particular shout out to the responsive developer and surprisingly effective AI opponent that actually knows how to play the game.
Its fun. intuitive, and relaxing. Horn of the Warlord is far from a grand strategy game, but is challenging on the higher difficulties. Would recommend if you want a strategy game that isn't sweaty or super time demanding.
Instantly hooked on this brilliant strategy game! Nothing too fancy here, just a really great game design that delivers. Developer struck a perfect balance; simple up front but complex under the hood, with tough, challenging, and fun gameplay. Plenty of different modes/content, very replayable. I look forward to more of getting demolished while learning the subtle points to master this game!
I really like this type of game(love warlords!!!) I feel that the interface, how intuitive the game is and the feel in general of the game is superb. My only grip is that it feels somehow hard to grasp how to deal with the difficulity of the game. ok edit: this is just annoyingly "just one more round"!!!!!!!!!!!! love this game. To new players who are frustrated about strategy etc which i was the first hour or so: choke points are key. So place castles in chokes. Secondly dont be afraid of having more armies. You need some with 20-40 guys running around capturing while you have the others strong. Third: you wont capture castles etc without the lower tier siege builders so you need both the high end ones and the low end ones.
