About
Hellish Quart is a local-only (two players play on one PC, not online), physics-based sword fighting game. Set in 17th century Poland, it features a cinematic story and the most iconic sword fighter archetypes of this period.
With motion-captured fencing techniques and four gamepad buttons representing four attack angles, you'll need to use timing, technique, and speed to defeat your opponents. Choose from a variety of warriors and take part in cinematic story mode, arcade mode, safe sparring, quick fights, survival mode with online leaderboards, or local multiplayer. If you want to hone your sword fighting skills, you can spar with wooden weapons or train in modern HEMA gear. And for the ultimate experience, Hellish Quart also offers an optional VR mode.
Please note that the game is still in development and only supports local multiplayer (two players play on one PC, not online).

Hellish Quart utilizes active ragdolls and real-time physics to get you the ultimate fencing experience. You can attack from four different angles using the four gamepad buttons. Different button combinations enable special attacks and combos. When you are not attacking, your character automatically assumes a defensive stance, blocking your opponent's attacks using the autoguard feature. Proper timing, technique, speed, measure, and wits are all crucial to winning, just like in real-world fencing.
The game is set in the historical 17th-century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the character models are based on 3D-scanned, reconstructed clothes from that period. The single-player campaign, once completed, will be firmly rooted in the reality of life in the region. You will duel against Zaporozhian Cossacks, Polish Hussars, Tatars, Turkish Janissaries, Swedish Reiters, French Musketeers, and more.

Reviews
Hellish Quart is one of those projects that instantly earns some respect simply because of who made it and how it was made. The creator clearly knows his craft, especially when it comes to animation. The motion-captured sword fighting looks fantastic and feels grounded in real historical fencing. You can tell a lot of knowledge and passion went into making the combat look authentic. It’s also something to admire when a single developer decides to tackle such an ambitious project. Building a physics-based fencing game mostly on your own is no small feat, and the dedication behind it shows in certain areas of the game. That said, in its current state the game still feels very rough around the edges. To me, Hellish Quart still looks and plays like it’s in an alpha stage rather than a polished early access release. The core combat idea is interesting, but the surrounding systems feel unfinished. The tutorial is one of the biggest problems. It lacks proper interactivity and doesn’t really teach the player how to fight effectively. There are no tutorial challenges or structured exercises for basic mechanics, which makes learning the game more frustrating than it should be. Another issue is the in-fight monologues. The voice lines are difficult to understand and often sound poorly recorded or awkwardly acted. Instead of adding atmosphere, they sometimes become distracting. Early access is usually meant for games that already have a solid foundation and mainly need tweaks, balancing, and additional content. In this case, it feels more like the game still needs significant development to reach that stage. Hellish Quart definitely has a strong idea and impressive animation work, but right now it feels like a promising prototype rather than a fully realized early access title. With more development—especially better tutorials, improved audio work, and overall polish—it could become something truly great. Right now, I would not recommend spending money on it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Easily the best fencing game I've played. Really fun, very much worth the money.
The game is unfinished and as far as I can tell, there is no plans to continue. The game is nearly 5 years old at this point and only the first act of the story is complete. The game has clearly been abandoned. For those looking for online multiplayer, it doesn't exist.
absolute GOLD. reminds me of Bushido Blade. but so much more realistic. totally worth the moneys
I don't normally write reviews but man this dev has completely dropped the ball, he spams out updates that solve nothing and breaks the game and then just blames us for not being able to play; Unreal. Don't waste your time on this its no longer playable as of 2026 and apparently its our fault if you listen to the dev lol edit: so the dev finally released the update to fix the game after 2 weeks 2 whole weeks this guy didn't care but as soon as he started to lose money he's crying in the update log "i'm so sorry guys please stop being mean i promise i care" so gross and disingenuous don't buy from this guy
Used to be fun but now its just a slow clunky fake-sim garbage fighting game.
DO NOT BUY! check out the update history and you will see this is abandoned already, no big or meaningful updates coming to this game, and the current state is just a tech demo! EDIT: I got replies saying ''The game just got a huge update and my comment is wrong" basically, I downloaded and played again for an arcade playthrough and still DO NOT BUY!! Game updates are not meaningful like I said in the first comment it so called 'tweaks' does not make so different from what I have played 3 years ago. Yes there are arenas and 1 or 2 new characters but game still not register attacks well. There is not 3 years of development from what I see so yes my comment is right the game feels still in very early stage after all these years as opposed to some fanboys.
Did you grow up playing Bushido Blade? This game scratches that itch. Very fun to play solo or with a friend, hope the devs keep on improving it.
If you enjoy HEMA or more historically grounded sword fighting, this game is for you. It has its issues but it is remarkably polished. Very fun, skill based, addictive.
How is a saber going to beat a rapier to the legs before the rapier thrusts to the face? Straight attacks are faster than swings, not to mention when the swings leads with bending at the hips, bringing the face right towards the thrust. Cool game but the physics don't really make any sense.
