Heat Signature is a game from the developers of Gunpoint where you break into spaceships, make terrible mistakes, and think of clever ways out of them. You take a mission, fly to the target ship, sneak inside, and make clever use of your gadgets to distract, ambush and take out the crew.

Tragically short, but a very solid game. I've finished my first playthrough already. Best I can describe it, it's like someone took Hotline Miami and mixed it with a puzzle game/roguelike in space. The game has heavily built-in pause menu controls and slow-mo mechanics so the game is less about reflexes and more about carefully choreographing your character's rampage through each ship. The gadgets are also well-designed: they seem alright at first but I found I kept finding new and creative ways to use them as the game continued. The Swap Teleport is a good example: at the start I found it was a good way to skip through certain parts of the ship by swapping positions with a guard further in, later on I figured out it could be used to swap guards into the trajectory of their own bullets, and I even later learned that you can use it as a cheeky way to get rid of someone by placing some sort of lethal hazard into the room you're in (a live grenade, a leaking fuel pump, or a window about the break and eject the room into space). I think what this game does really well is it somehow makes stealth feel spontaneous and unscripted where most other games fall flat. Getting caught is still punishing, the game is not designed to let you mindlessly blow through crews in the upper difficulties, yet since your gear tends to be haphazardly collected over time rather than pre-set and the ship layouts are random the game challenges you to invent new ways to stretch a limited toolset. My only complaint is that there isn't more. I'm not sure I'd recommend buting it at $17 since I'd have literally received less than 1 hour per dollar on my first playthrough, but at the $3 summer price sale I warmly endorse it.

What a compelling story-maker. Become the god of impossible scenarios, the fear of every peaceful spacefarer, the destroyer of windows, and the man with a plan for every situation. Saving yourself from outer space after being ejected from your destroyed pod, with only a second of oxygen left in your tank, all thanks to you trusty shotgun, has to be one of the pinnacles of gameplay experiences in gaming.
super duper fun space piracy sandbox experience game !
I just keep coming back to this. It's a great game with a unique twist on action-shooter meets stealth-heist. The music is good, there are neat toys to unlock as you progress. The defector missions are a brilliant way to work structured challenge runs in as a break amongst all the randomness, all while connecting to the rebel narrative that the story is telling.
slipstream. visitor. visitor. chuck breach grenade at locked door. defenestrate self. catch yourself and dock at the ship's new hole. throw gun at target. pick up body. defenestrate.
amazing immersive sim/puzzle game
на стим деку працює
Quick little action oriented missions with timing puzzles. Fun.
Very cool and fun gameplay features!! makes me feel like an awesome space bounty hunter
Heat Signature really gives a heist feeling. Almost every way of getting what we want from a spaceship is satisfying. Bonus points for realism - challenge starts even before we board on spaceship. I love that we can make our own choices in literally every aspect. It also kinda recreates impression of playing the old-school GTA or flash games.
