This definitely isnt a farming simulator, its a JRPG with farming sim bits and pieces thrown in. the game is, for a lack of better words, uninspired. To start with, the character creation is abysmally simple, with the player only allowed to basically recolor the character with no real customization. The characters seem very one dimensional, and heavily recycled especially the most common of "i can't remember anything' protagonist tropes, especially since i was nearly three hours in and not even out of the tutorial. The quests are an incredibly boring 'spend too long in an unskipable dialogue, go there, grab something, get interrupted half way back to quest giver with more dialogue, get back to quest giver for more dialogue' loop, with abysmal rewards as the cherry on top. And that isn't even going into how completely meaningless your dialogue options are, when you even get to chose a reply to something. As for the design, the music is alright, but all of the characters look the same, with the exception of the older ones. Also the lack of voice acting is pretty disappointing, especially since this is normally a 60$ game. (Full disclosure, i got it for 50% off during the farming sim sale steam offered, further leading to my disappointment that this is NOT a farming sim.) That being said, the farming is clunky and never once felt rewarding, only insultingly overly simplistic for something that was supposed to have more of a focus on it from first impressions. The fighting is also lackluster, to put it lightly, as all it is basically all through the tutorial is a three click combo, until you get a fire ability that at level four (the level i reached, somehow) still doesnt even do half a health bar of damage to a level one enemy. All in all, very disappointed with this game.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 29: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you like games like Stardew Valley and final fantasy then this is the game for you. It's Square Enix's first attempt for a farming game (as far as I know) and you can tell, it has it's flaws yes but I still think the game is worth the time. The combat is good, the job system is fun, the story is really beautiful and the farming is also pretty relaxing and fun. Only downside I personally had was that the story took a complete 180 when I was halfway through it and it felt like I HAD to go and do the story rn and neglect my farm so I was pretty behind on that one. Overall the game is really well done, has its ups and downs but more ups if you ask me
Harvestella may be a jack of all trades, master of none, but I have really enjoyed my time playing it. If you like aspects of farming, RPG, quests, crafting, fishing, cooking, achievements, and more with a dedicated storyline, I think you would like this game. I 100%'d the game in Switch and did it again on Steam. The achievements are quite reasonable if you're looking to put in some time if that's something you're interested in. The story can take a bit to wrap your head around, but I enjoyed it. You have a main storyline but also character storylines that can be progressed depending on how far you are into the story. You can do these as you go or come back to them and you won't miss any; same with the general side quests. If you're just starting out, I recommend doing these for good money, seeds, and materials. You get some customization over your farm and your options continue to expand as you play and unlock sort of in-game achievements for more recipes, areas of your farm, or upgrades. The game also encourages you to revisit old areas that you can unlock more in later. I really struggled with the combat of the game for a bit, but I eventually got it down. I wish it were a bit clearer which of your skills - as you're using them - applies which typing and which of the break bars stood for which typing. This isn't something you typically need to worry about until some end-game bosses. You can build your party around their bonuses (e.g. I selected two party members who gave good magic bonuses), select jobs that complement these, and equip rings to boost your stats (and can later combine rings if they have available slots or compatible stats). Its unfortunately not worth grinding for rings as they have low drop rates, but you can get some good scripted drops that should suffice plenty. I really enjoyed the music of the game, especially in the Coral Shrine. The models and general art style doesn't blow me away, but the character portraits are too notch and really help convey what the characters are saying (which is why I was so disappointed that Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town did away with them). The end game can get a bit grindy, particularly if you're farming for materials to upgrade everyone's weapons or max out job classes, but I didn't mind it too much (and I typically don't care for grinding much in games). You can also get a ring to help with job points gain which helps a good bit. I recommend using some guides if you really want to max out everything and find the best places to farm materials or find things to help you do so. If you're not sold on the game, it frequently goes on sale and that's a good time to pick it up! The first couple hours can be a little slow (I played the demo originally and wasn't sure if I would get the game), but I find it expands pretty quickly from there.
This is more JRPG with some farm sim elements than it is a farm sim, but this is a solidly cute game. Simple battle system, charming characters, decent story, fantastic soundtrack, pretty environments. If you like JRPGs you'll probably enjoy it. I certainly did. I do not think it's work the $60 price tag though. Wait for it to be on sale for $40-$45 and its very worth it.
Well, I played it all the way through and it was OK at best. If you want to play an actual farming game, Stardew or Sun Haven are infinitely better. If you want to play a compelling RPG, there are endless options out there that exceed this particular title. I would probably go for a 5/10. If you're unfamiliar with farming RPGs this would probably be a nice introduction into the genre, but as I previously stated, it pales in comparison to other RPGs that excel in their respective roles. I could recommend it at not AAA pricing. Wait for it to go on sale. The character art is beautiful and the story isn't horrible, but it's definitely not worth 60$ in my opinion.
I understand why most games don't have demos. No one wants a team to waste resources and time that could be spent on the game itself to put together a demo. Unfortunately, HARVESTELLA is a shining example of why we still need demos to be made. Instead of having an opportunity to get a feel for whether or not you like the game early on, HARVESTELLA puts you on very slow rails and funnels you through a long intake to get to all of the elements of gameplay in a way that feels like it's intentionally built to block people from returning the game if you don't like it. By the time I realized this game did not speak to me, it was too late and I had played the game for way too long to realize it. This would have been fine if it had felt like I'd spent that amount of time playing the game, but it did not. Imagine the introduction we could have had instead if the game had not been designed with this in mind. I played it for longer to give it a chance, but even now that I'm approaching the second ending I can't bring myself to keep playing this. It just bores me too much. It just felt very deliberate to me, so I'd say to anyone uncertain enough to check the reviews: just don't risk it. Even with a nearly half price sale (iirc) I feel like I got ripped off for what I walked away with. Personally, HARVESTELLA feels like a game where developers looked at aspects people like in the recent farm sim craze, and balled it together without care at making either the farming or the combat feel good to play. Because it just doesn't. It's sad, because while the concept of using magic or technology while farming are not unique, it always has the potential of being refreshing to see. For me, the gameplay itself just felt tedious and empty, sorry. I was really hopeful for this game, but it just never delivered the same satisfaction as other games in the genre. I also think something was lost in the translation of the character arcs. There are definitely themes for the companion characters that feel like there was something creative there, but the execution of the dialogue and cutscenes just feel like they fall flat. Overall, there are better farm sims, and there are better combat games, and in trying to be both it feels like HARVESTELLA has failed.
More Final Fantasy than Rune Factory but I enjoyed the story a lot
Harvestella is a very good game for what it is as long as you go into it open minded. It is not your traditional final fantasy RPG that many fans have grown to expect from SE. Nor is it a traditional farming sim as it does not match the energy of Stardew Valley, any Harvest Moon title, or even Story of Seasons. What Harvestella is, is a cozy version of both, a cozy farm sim, and a cozy RPG. The combat is not overtly complex, and the farming takes very little energy. This is the perfect type of cozy game for someone who doesn't have the mental energy to invest. As a stay at home mother I find this game is perfect at the end of the day. As I can easily pick up and play a couple of game days without spending serious time playing to make some basic progress. I am only able to play in 10-20 minute bursts, and honestly this game is just cozy enough I feel like I am actually making progress every time I turn it on to play. I bought Harvestella on sale as I am not going to spend full price on any game when I hardly have any time to play, and I would say it was worth the sale price. I would reccomend Harvestella to anyone looking for a cozy came to make short burst progress and not have to dedicate long gaming sessions to.
