This game is a lot better than people say it is. Yeah story-wise it's a little lacking, but gameplay wise makes up for it. I've played every halo, and this one is just the most fun I've had doing so. Gunplay is so punchy and the movement is so fluid. However I wouldnt recommend at full price, try to get it on sale.
I hear people are deriding this game. I don't know about multiplayer but open world feels natural for the Halo series, and the main missions are a return to form. The villains are pretty good, better than any of the previous games'. The gameplay is fluid and feels like old times. I've gotten several hours out of the campaign and feel that it's been worth my investment. I really like this direction for the series, and I hope later installments build on it without repeating it. As with many open world shooters, the respawning enemies in areas I've already cleared is annoying, and collectables are always frustrating when it's not clear where they all are. I don't like having to double back to pick up upgrades. I do wish air vehicles were available earlier in the game, there are some areas that are a huge pain in the butt to get to. I love being able to summon vehicles, tanks, and guns that I like from the FOB's instead of having to hunt down the vehicle I want.
rico
[3/5] Good. Yeah, it's alright, but I think the world has moved on. The Halo multiplayer formula just isn't as fun compared to other modern online shooters.
Mejor me la halo antes que jugar a esto un minuto más.
Love this game!
Just a heads up, I have way more hours on my xbox than here, so this isn't just me hating on a game that I barely played. This game is carried solely by the grappling hook. The art style is bland, the millennial humor sickening garbage, the story is wildly forgettable (I beat the mf three times and cannot tell you a single thing about the story other than the Brohammer being somewhat interesting), the AI is predictable and boring to fight against, the music is blander than plain rice, and its developer's biggest influence is a D list Farcry game instead of classic Halo. So, I used to think that this is the original 343 game that had the best art style, but that is hardly saying anything when you realize that Halo 4 has an art style that's bland yet overly detailed, and Halo 5 wants to be Power Rangers instead of Halo. That said, over time, I kinda changed my mind on that. I have come to realize that this art direction actually had little to no direction because the devs realized how much they ♥♥♥♥ the bed with the last two games, so rather than finding their way back to a more faithful look to the game, they opted instead to attempt to please everyone, which you should never do because it's toothless and boring. The MCU style humor is makes me yearn to play kickball on a busy freeway. I would tell you about how much the story sucked, but I don't recall anything about the story. The gameplay is actually pretty fun in small bursts, but once you clear one outpost, you have cleared them all, so you should stop playing after that. There is no dancing with the enemies, it's mostly mindless shooting, with the only nuance being the grappling hook. If old school Bungie had that grappling hook, they would have opened up its full potential with their mastery of level design. Halos CE-Reach has hands down the greatest soundtrack in gaming history. The music for every 343 game, save for the CEMake (which is literally just the unchanged CE soundtrack lmfao), sucks. A lot of it is reminiscent of a babbling brook but with diarrhea instead of clean drinking water that was the OG soundtracks. That is no different in Infinite, but on top of offending my ears, it's just so boring to listen to. Even when they did the main Halo theme, it just sounded so OFF (also, nothing particularly special was happening, it was just another lame section). If you have the already brilliantly written notes right there in front of you and you don't give me goosebumps, you have failed. At its finest, the music in this game sounds like it belongs in an Apple commercial from 2014. 343 had four chances (three at the time of this game's creation) to show us that they are worthy of helming the Halo franchise, and they have FAILED. Their continuous disregard of Halo's lore, art style, and gameplay tells me that they hate Halo, which they themselves admitted to in the past. They want to be the next COD game so badly and really lean into the competitive aspects of FPS gaming, whilst the original games relied on being fun first. The fact that games in the series that range from of 16-25 years old absolutely clown on these games is embarrassing. Don't play this game, let it burn. It's such a sadness in the world when I hear that the 343 games are people's first exposures to my favorite franchise of all time.
