Its alright to play with friends for a bit but its not the halo we remeber
Campaign feels like a walking simulator.
this game got me into the halo series. Finished the master chief collection after, unbelievable games! the multiplayer is a 10/10 for me so fun,
ass
Halo is js peak
Don't play it, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If a player leaves the game after absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the bed in your game, it replaces them with a bot that will pick up a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ power weapon and walk it over to the enemy team. Literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, worst halo ever. Game makes ODST look like Ocarina of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Time.
review is just for firefight - normal halo modes are fine i dont like the special versions of the gamemodes because theyre just not fun to me but thats neither here nor there. firefight is what i care about because it has always been my favorite and what i spent the most time doing in reach as a kid. i dont mind the switch to a control point based gamemode, it basically just corrals your entire team in one spot instead of having them just dying at random parts across a giant map. i especially like the fiesta gamemode where everyone gets grappling hooks, halos movement has always kinda been ass and something like this makes me yearn for a high-octane movement shooter with the same mechanics. the real problem is that firefight difficulty scaling is absolutely HORRID here compared to reach to the point its genuinely upsetting how much they diddled my favorite gamemode. lower difficulties are mind-numbingly easy, higher difficulties are just obnoxious. ill still queue for that garbage regardless. the new gauntlet mode has these problems the worst which sucks because i really like the general idea! "roguelite firefight" sounds like a really dumb idea on paper but when you flesh it out in the way they did it sounds quite appetizing. the problem is again the difficulty scaling. starts out almost comically easy, the moment it cranks up the difficulty from easy to normal though it feels like getting your balls ripped off by covenant footsoldiers. the obvious answer is "skill issue" but i grew up with heroic and legendary firefight as a kid so i dont know. when you respawn immediately dropped on top of 30 elites and a boss what the hell are you supposed to do other than immediately die. it cant just be me sucking because not to mention this mode is for some reason the only one completely FULL of graphical errors, like random polygons just covering the entire map. linux performance is usually fine, ive never had issues with this on any of the standard gamemodes or other firefight modes, but gauntlet is just full of weird texture and graphic errors for some reason. again, ill still queue for that garbage anyway it runs out of the box on steam deck but on my pikaos niri desktop it took like an hour to get even running. i think the main culprit is the xbox live popup integration not playing well with tiling managers but it would just hang on the startup screen and then either crash or just do nothing when it was time for the xbox live sign in ui to open up. also absurdly long load times just for menus? unsure if this is the norm on windows but incredibly annoying. not an unplayable linux experience but definitely one that requires a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of troubleshooting which may be a no-go for some people
Still the premier arena shooter out there. Tons of fun.
