I really enjoyed this remake. A little hand holdy but easily ignored. Absolutely stunning to look at and having a blast with my mates. This game feels like a step in the right direction for Halo, the atmosphere has been captured a lot more closely than the recent Halo games. I recommend to any new / old Halo fans.
This campaign sure was evolved

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

The poor optimization of the game prevents me from fully enjoying the game. My computer, which could run Halo Infinite at maximum graphics flawlessly, struggles to maintain 60 FPS in natural environments for CEV. There's a lot the game does right, mostly visually (such as the space scenes and especially the Flood; they nailed 343 Guilty Spark and The Library is a massive improvement), though one consistent miss is the voice acting.

Beautiful and smooth.
Halo Campaign Evolved is interesting in that I wouldn't recommend it to newcomers as MCC gives a greater bang for your buck (5 campaigns). HOWEVER I would recommend this game to people who may have skipped Combat Evolved and just ahead to 2. This version of Combat Evolved fixes a LOT of issues that Combat Evolved suffered from. I play the CE campaign at least once a year and believe it to be my favorite campaign, so going into this one I had a critical eye for changes but did a standard Normal playthrough first, then did the Bonus Missions. I also updated my Graphics Drivers to the most recent and could run Ultra graphics with barely any performance issues. Positives: - Nearly all weapons in the game sound great and feel great to use! I don't think anytime I felt like I was forced to use a weapon that was hard to use or didn't feel effective. - Making the latter half of the missions feel at least unique enough to change the way we move through the level, 'Two Betrayals' in particular your forced to use the cliff wall instead of through the tunnels like on 'Assault the Control Room' - Visually I couldn't complain, everything felt faithfully recreated, and was impressed especially with '343 Guilty Spark' the ambience in particular was great! - BEST HALO SHOTGUN YET - Fuel Rod Gun leaves a green pool of plasma on the ground where it exploded, this is cool. - Flood pure form helps break up the monotony of the Flood's original lineup of enemies. My negatives with the game are mostly superficial. - Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle uses the Halo Infinite reload which is disappointing, didn't bother trying to find a fun new 1-2-3 method for the classic reloads or what have you. - Energy Sword doesn't sound right, they NEED to make sure there's a crackling activation sound, however I like the idle noises. - Plasma Rifle sounds weird... it should have the Banshee's Guns sounds which sound closer to a classic Plasma Rifle. - Banshee's don't sound like Banshee's. A Banshee screams, in CE they had a screech when they turned or made fast movements. - I'm not one to worry about the whole vent thing with the Plasma Pistol but ill add it anyway, the vent being towards the user instead of away is again a micro-annoyance. - Flood don't die satisfactory, its weird they just either disappear or explode into a few chunks and a puff of smoke. More Blood! Make the game work for that M rating! - Weapons lack a "equip" sound besides the Magnum and a couple other weapons, maybe they just aren't distinct enough? - Johnson's new voice does take a while to come to like, i believe the Bonus Missions help. - I wish they had at least a bare bones multi-player it didn't need to be crazy just something at least. - Sometimes enemies just lose aggro randomly. Also: Williams was NOT overbearing or annoying, just a hardhead ODST. Overall I loved Campaign Evolved and would say it was an 8.5/10 experience, no multiplayer outside campaign and no real way to pair up with randoms drops it to a 7/10, and then it being a steep $50 for basically a "see we can do Halo right!" makes it 6/10. Unless Halo Studios starts adding to the Bonus Missions like DLC or adding other campaigns here; MCC is still king for Halo Content. Wait for a sale if you aren't sure. If you like Halo already, then give it a shot! I will do runs for skulls next and edit this review after my initial playthrough.
Yeah look this falls short of anything new and interesting, you will play it once realise its the same 25 year old game with new paitn and more bugs, has worse polish and the hyped up new missions are jarring and lack luster. this game feels rushed and the amount of DEI BS is a major turn off. been a halo fan since 2001 but this is become exhausting
Graphics are very nice compared to the OG. The cut scenes are in 30 FPS and they are choppy. While it was nostalgic to play the game, it was very short. The game has some bugs to squash for sure. I had 1 crash the entire time. For the price of this game they should have added more content or even a PVP. In its current state its probably between $20-$25 game. I would definitely wait until it goes on a massive discount.
Just finished the story, my biggest issue is the price of the game. Maybe I am misremembering it but I feel like the game used to actually be challenging on Legendary mode. The animation on the cut scenes were great. I wish that they didn't add in some things and kept it true to the original but it is what it is. I hope that they at least add pvp later just to justify the price but I have a feeling this was just a quick cash grab, If it goes on sale for a deep discount I recommend picking it up for the experience but at full price it is not worth it unfortunately.
