No soul in this remake. The music and cutscenes are botched. Multiple studios worked on this game and it shows. Why not just get the original devs? The original devs were not informed about this remake and was not involved at all and it shows. Do not buy this slop when Master Chief Collection does a better job.
TLDR: This product is an embarrassment. I grew up playing Halo. Playing those games had a profound impact on my life. I studied game design and programming in large part due to being inspired by those games. I *Desperately* want to like a new halo game, Infinite was decent but only really half of a game, and I thought "they can't possibly mess up a script handed to them that is already proven and brilliant; just make a few basic improvements, and maybe even a few nonbasic changes and you're off to the races. There are so many brilliant things you could do if you were to recreate the original campaign lovingly; adding new features to spice up replaying it, adding more secrets, alternate paths, environmental storytelling stuff. And yet this is what we got. A disappointment on every level. Parts of the gameplay are still fun, they have not yet fallen so far as to ruin the core loop. The changes to the level design are extremely simple wins. But literally everything else is 10 steps back from the original. Let alone actual improvements. And the prequel missions, which I was quite excited for, are probably hands down the worst missions I have ever played in a Halo Campaign. But ultimately; There was no unified vision. No creative spark. No quality control. The reality that this is a product with absolutely zero authorial intent or internal consistency pervades the whole experience. Its going to say 91 hrs on record at the time of this review, but thats a lie. The first time I played the game, I quit out but the process failed to terminate and kept running in the background. Nothing Steam could do could stop it. Eventually, 3 days later, I went to play again and had to restart my computer. I've never experienced a product shipped from a "AAA" developer fail so badly it can't even close.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

It was fun, I mean sure its pretty stupid there is no multiplayer for a $50 game, but I mean to relive halo CE looking this good was so nice. All the haters are just salty little bungie meat riders. I mean they talk about how Halo has sucked ever since their precious company left them, when they couldn't be further from the truth. But they don't wanna hear that. So overall solid game just maybe wait for a sale.
Huge Halo fan, been playing it since i was a kid. Replaying this was pretty fun but with the old bugs still not finished and the connection issues with friends its feels quite bad. I'd say buy this if its 20 euro if you really wanna play this. The fact hat it doesnt have pvp or fireteam and asks for this price is crazy.
Si
Nostalgia in latest graphics.
Dont listen to the losers, its worth your money. The game looks stunning, and If you love CE then you will certainly love this game aswell. The 3 bonus missions are MID tbh, but its not halo 5 level bad. The game runs surprisingly well, there were only few times it stuttered for me when there were lots of enemies on screen. All the levels are on par and most are better than the levels they replace, with literaly only small nitpicks (usually about the cutscenes and start/end) Yeah sprint is here, so just dont press X (or whatever your binding is) I didnt press the button once the entire run and I had fun (funny enough I played through all of halo 4 not knowing there was a sprint until the last level) dont let it ruin the game just cause its there Online co-op works great, one of the best things in this game by far There are some minor bugs, such as the insane guy in 343 guilty spark not firing at you (yes modders dicovered it was a bug) There is a noticable difference in the games quality from the early levels to the late ones, for example silent cartographer & keys. SC is a masterpiece, and keyes can feel VERY rushed at times (see through assets & weird cooling water physics) Pretty sure it was rushed because of GTA VI, which is understandable but unfortunate. But if we love halo 2 despite how rushed it is (and how bad it kinda is because of it) then this game deserves love aswell All the skulls and terminals are fun to go gather, just try find at least 10 without a tutorial TLDR: Is halo back? - This is part 1, whatever comes next will truly decide (so far probably though) Game out of 10? - 7-8/10 (depends per person) Is the game faithful? - Would say so Last editions - Game a little rushed and some minor bugs cause of it (GTA VI) but modding is amazing and it has code to build things like theatre) And finally, Is this game good? - Yep, its worth 50 bucks (dont buy the prem edition & dont fall for the people that say its $70 cause its 50 and yall dont need that stuff)
it is definitely a halo: campaign. i'm sure if you look hard enough there's an evolution somewhere. just play the original it's $10
Definitely not worth the 60 € with this content and quality. Quite buggy, has optimization issues, new cutscenes are a huge disappointment etc. Don't bother to buy it, just try it with game pass if you are a bigger fan of the series. Things didn't start well for Halo Studios with this release and it makes me afraid that the good times of Halo are long gone. Here's to hoping I'm wrong..
Whether you grew up playing the original Halo CE or are new, I'd recommend getting this on sale. But it is worth the playthrough. Overall, I just don't think they added enough to justify the price. To be honest, I would recommend getting the Master Chief Collection over this, as Halo Reach is better and more fun than this by itself. But you would also have access to other Halo games, including the originals. Things I liked: Graphics are great. Performance is decent considering it's UE5. But it has the same UE5 issues we're all familiar with - mileage may vary. Level designs were improved, many with additional detail and color. The library looks completely different than the original and is not so repetitive. I appreciate that. 343 Guilty Spark level is dope and really added to the experience. I really like the guns and enemies added, which gives more variety. The pistol and shotgun are both satisfying to use and still feel powerful like the original game. Things I didn't like: Cortana's new face. The HUD is annoying and intrusive. Bonus mission dialogue did not sound like Master Chief. In general those missions weren't very good and didn't really add anything for me. Though I admit I skipped the dialogue as I couldn't stand it. I even turned down the chatter dialogue sound (very thankful for that setting btw). All the best skins are hidden with no ability to unlock through normal gameplay. Luckily there is a mod. But I was hoping for unlockable skins through skulls or challenges, or even better custom armor unlockable like Halo Reach and Halo 3 in MCC. No firefight.
