Half-Life is one of the greatest games in history. It has had the same influence on the game industry as ancient Greek or Roman civilizations had on the prosperity of humanity. Half-Life’s original engine, GoldSrc, is a predecessor of the infamous Source, which has made an enormous impact on games’ physics functioning and incredible flexibility, and which also leads us to the widely celebrated Counter-Strike and Team Fortress. This game is old; however, it’s still engaging and interesting to play. Sometimes it’s tremendously difficult. I really can’t count how many times I died fighting aliens and the armed forces of HECU, falling off ladders and narrow passages into the abyss. I find something mesmerizing in strolling along musty sewer tunnels, sparkling laboratory facilities, the dry wasteland of New Mexico, and, of course, the Xen world. Players are provided with a variety of weapons and foes to test their arsenal on. The game challenges your prowess and skill. I remember how I was afraid of losing all of my ammo, because that would mean I wouldn’t be able to vanquish the entities from Xen and the final boss. What makes this game so interesting even nowadays: is it fantastic writing or a vast assortment of new breakthrough features? I can’t answer that question precisely. Nonetheless, I can assure you that it’s worth it to go on this venture and dedicate your time to the astonishing universe of Half-Life.

Спустя 2 года я прошёл Half-Life 1 и пожалел, что раньше не прошёл. Игра до сих пор меня радует. Для меня графика до сих пор не устарела, хоть странно, но она радует глаз, и ИИ для противников тоже хороший: они меня заставили понервничать. Битва с Нихилантом тоже офигенная, мне нравится, что он иногда переносит в другие места. Но я нашёл баг или же фичу (считайте как хотите), что если спрятаться за камнем, который возле него, то он не сможет попасть по вам, и можете его атаковать, а он в ответ нет. Но есть огромный минус - это мир Зен, он просто ужасный. И чтобы избежать оскорблений, игроки того времени, когда вышла игра, сами говорили, что мир Зен просто ужасен. Но он не так плох, если так сказать: если подумать, то он прикольный, но скайбокс ужасен, нереально плохой. Такое чувство, что не в ином мире, а в аквариуме, потому что в скайбоксе можно разглядеть кораллы, это просто вырвиглазно. Но из-за такой мелочи игра всё равно для меня стала уникальным опытом. Спасибо за игру!
