Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Choose your side in the American Civil War: Real-time campaign, spanning from Secession to the end of the war, with historical objectives for both sides.
Five campaign scenarios (Pre-War, 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864) and twenty (20) stand-alone battles from 1st Manassas in 1861 to Appomattox Court House in 1865.
Change history: What if European superpowers intervened to end the war, or Lincoln lost the presidential election of 1864?
Scott’s Great Snake: Lay siege, raid and blockade your enemy on land and sea or use blockade runners to keep the life-lines to Europe open.
From Fort Sumter to Appomattox: Watch closely the morale of your citizens and troops. As the war drags on, fervor turns to fatigue, the treasury threatens to run dry, and measures like drafting will cause unrest.
Keep the armies marching: Build and manage the flow of supplies to your armies. Utilize and expand railroad lines to supply and move armies for the first time in history!
Pivotal battles: Fight battles lasting multiple days on historical battlefields. Use engineers to build pontoons and dig trenches, see reinforcements change the tide and commit your reserves to defeat the enemy.
Grant vs. Lee: Manage hundreds of historical commanders with personal attributes and specialization. Famous commanders inspire soldiers and citizens alike and loss of reputation can be irreparable.
Command Great Armies: Huge armies of infantry, cavalry and artillery, with realistic command structures and historical Order of Battle.
Bring the Civil War to life: Amazing Civil War re-enactment and combat footage from LionHeart FilmWorks, and an original soundtrack of old time music and drum and fife band.Updates

Frankly, this is the best American Civil War RTS that I have ever played. It has its quirks and drawbacks, but I have been fully satisfied and have played over 220 hours. Definitely worth the price and definitely worth adding to your library if you enjoy military RTS games. The developers set out to achieve a very ambitious goal of creating an immersive and historically accurate gaming experience and they accomplished this goal admirably all things considered. I hope the developers continue to update and improve this game in the future after their upcoming Napoleonic Wars game releases.
Way, way too cumbersome--especially for a beginner like myself. There is so much within the game that a basic tutorial takes about a day-and-a-half. The soundtrack is cool, though, if you are into time period ambiance.

IT TOOK ME THREE HOURS TO TRY AND PLAY THIS GAME. NOTE THIS, I SAID "GAME." WAY TOO COMPLICATED TO JUST TRY AND ENJOY A GAME. PROPS TO THE DEVELOPERS ON THE ATTENTION TO DETAILS, BUT I GUESS I AM TOO OLD TO PLAY THIS "GAME." GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE. A VERY EXPENSIVE MISTAKE I MADE. I DIDN'T REALIZE THERE WAS A TIME LIMIT TO RETURN THIS PRODUCT. I MAY NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM STEAM AGAIN DUE TO THIS FACT.
keeps getting better every time I play a campaign. Lots of work to be done, but im thoroughly enjoying playing both sides. Whiskey and Lems has been really fun, allowing you to play casually as a drunken artillery captain or you can compete with your peers to reach the top as a tryhard chad general. will keep playing and look forward to improvements.
I was very excited to find this game. I am very disappointed because even after watching the tutorial for 3 hours, I can't figure it out. I'm going to give it a break and try again some other time.
I can't recommend Grand Tactician: American Civil War highly enough if you're into both strategic and tactical battles. If you enjoy Total War titles, this is a Total War killer. I decided to make things harder for myself and chose an option where I could only see the battlefield from the saddle, meaning first person only (I still have access to the battlefield map) and started a career in charge of a single regiment. It's been nearly 2 hours in a single battle and the time flew by. Total Awesome should be the title of this series by a small developer. Excuse me while I deploy skirmishers. The Union is having its arse handed to it and I'm covering the 4th Brigade (Army of Northeast Virginia under McClellan) as it falls back prior to retreating. I have little influence so my men have to die under an incompetent general. Just add tactical naval battles and I'll throw as much money as I can afford at you on every title you produce.
The game is far from finished and has since been abandoned by the devs after releasing a cash-grab DLC
The game forces me to buy a $25 DLC to play. would not recommend.
why is this so much money?
I'll probably be playing this in my retirement. Long, deep game - and fantastic.
