Best RPG game ever, ownz tes and anything else :P N1 must have !!! No other game has ever managed to recreate that increadible feeling of seeing a living, breathing world in a computer video game. This was my first experience of this magnitude in my gaming career and it has etched it's mark. Ever since I judge every other game based on qualities Gothic has. I don't know how, but the blend of graphics, art style, voices, sounds and music, along side a rich story, interested and diverse characters within an amazing universve have created an atmosphere no other game ever did for me. What is more, I like the weird control scheme, enjoyed it's hard combat, loved the simple yet functional and fun leveling up system. None of the above ever stood in my way of having fun the way I wanted. I bought one game and literally had 3 games as I have finished it 3 times each with different character. Most of the time I wanted to level up, kill mosters etc. so that I could push story forward to see what's next in line for me to discover and enjoy. A lot of new games are being made nowadays, but their quality is subpar to the games created in the 90's and early 2000's. There are new game that I will start playing and be bored after an hour, but anytime I go back to Gothic I will immerse myself again, all the way through. To this day I can remember the creepy forests at night, the music from the mines, harsh voices of the guards, warcries of the orcs, laments of ghosts in the crypts, ground shaking under the dragons feet, secret passages hidden in this amazing world. Gothic is not a game, it's an adventure and experience that only a select few actually understand. Not suitable for everyone as it's unique style, weird controls and hard gameplay will discourage many people. Nevertheless, it's one of the most amazing gems the gaming world has to offer, such a shame Piranha has lost their way and starting moving away from a spiritual successor Risen into some strangely overly piratey Risen 2, to a complety bland 'lets copy the competition' product only to top it up with an abysmal Elex. Why Piranha, why? Give us Gothic HD or Gothic Remake, I would kickstarted fund the s*** out of it.
