Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.86/day in the week to Aug 26 → 5.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
When civilization is decimated by rampant plague, a lucky few emerge from the ashes. Help them settle in a dangerous wilderness reclaimed by nature. Build them a home, shape their lives, and defend them from bandits and beasts in a lawless, realistic post-calamity world. The Dark Age is yours to rebuild.

From three lost travellers to a thriving walled city, build greatness from desolation. Use 3D terrain tools to create the perfect stronghold, from sprawling multi-storey forts to winding underground caverns. Construct, furnish and decorate your chambers, workshops, chapels, libraries and more, using stone, clay, and other gathered materials.

Each settler is a unique character. Consider Grimbold, for example. As a Swineherd, his Animal Handling is second to none. But his personality is Savage, so he’d make a strong Brawler. He likes nice clothes, his religion is dear to him — and he’s hungry. Satisfy Grimbold’s needs, use his talents, and he’ll be a happy settler — key to a happy settlement.

Build impenetrable defenses and set traps against unrelenting waves of raiders. Research and craft medieval tech, arm your settlers and command them in battle. Tailor your strategy to your villager’s skills, and upgrade them through hunting and combat.

Explore your randomly-generated multi-level map and manipulate it to your will. Terraform the earth and water for construction, design, or military strategy. Build up or dig down, go humble or baronial, and use the modding tools to unearth a whole new level of creative freedom.

A game with great love for detail and replay value. Much thought was given to QOL (copyable, very detailed settings for NPC equipment, storage etc). At times the level of micromanagement required can be annoying, and I wish some things were better explained in the almanach (how to install rugs, how the building stability mechanic works, how to improve room quality, how useful animals can be for hauling). Still, I had 66 hours of fun in my first playthrough. Many games try to give you a sandbox in which you can create your own narrative. This often fails for me, but here it works. Those little messages about people having had an awkward conversation about darning hose, the waves of grief and rebellion settlers go through after losing a loved one, feeling sad when your favourite cat, Sir Barksalot, dies... And then there is the depth of the system. You can play with the limited instructions in the almanach and succeed, but you can also still discover extra functions after 50+ hours that can make life a little easier. WIth different maps and difficulty settings and using your own imagination to dream up a unique design for your settlement, this game has longevity. (And I'll deinstall it for now to get my life back for a while.)
I've been hooked on Going Medieval for the past week. I wishlisted it when I first saw it because it looked like my favorite game, RimWorld. While it shares a lot of the same colony-sim DNA, Going Medieval succeeds by fully committing to the medieval setting. The vertical building system is fantastic. Building underground cellars, multi-story keeps, towers, barracks, and layered defenses adds something that even RimWorld doesn't have. It captures the feeling of building a medieval settlement in a way that few games do. My biggest complaints are quality-of-life related. Not being able to queue tasks for settlers, create blueprints and plans, rearrange work priorities more freely, or move production stations without losing queued orders makes colony management more tedious than it should be. These aren't game-breaking issues, but they feel like features that should already exist. RimWorld is still the better overall game because of its depth, content, and years of polish, but Going Medieval has a strong foundation, and I've had a hard time putting it down since buying it.
The AIs are soo DUMD. You try and give them food but thry run right past single time and die its a good game but the AI in this game are soo soo soo DUMB!!! PS FIX IT
3d RIMWORLD! 9/10 amazing game.
While the maps and buildings and vegetation are beautiful... the game is rather boring. There are no real challenges. I played it with difficult settings, upped the percentage of enemies etc.... yawn. If you want to chill and build medieval castles, go for it. If you want a challenge... stick with Rimworld. The problems with Going Medieval are: The aggressive animals don't search for or attack your players unless they are really close. Wolves and bears roam the area, even into your castle, and don't attack anyone. The enemies are always as many as you have players which is dumb when you are inside a castle. Enemies don't attack according to your defenses but come in one by one and get slaughtered. They don't teamwork. If they have siege weapons they don't really use height advantages and don't make you come hunt for them. They just get way too close to you so they don't have an advantage using their siege weapon. They don't use shields to protect their bowmen who just stand in reach of your defense. So yea... nice idea but boring.
