Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Story, Visuals, Music
The Story Honestly, this game has a pretty generic story. It's a tale about saving the world, and fighting back against a seemingly unstoppable evil. I was never really compelled by anything. It did enough to keep me moving, although I was hoping for more... Visuals/Music I really loved the handcrafted graphics and the accompanying soundtrack that matched so well with a lot of the levels. Visiting lush forests with leaves floating around me and vines swaying around Flynn, or running through snow covered levels as snow blows heavily across the screen was neat. I especially enjoyed some of the later swamp levels and getting to explore The Spire (where our big bad end game villain calls home) was awesome. As a gamer, these are all locales you've visited previously, but they certainly looked great here! The soundtrack was awesome! I found myself humming along to some of the tunes as I made my way across the levels. Bright, chipper tracks for the forest levels, and more dark, somber ones for the swamps and the evil lair of Zealock. I loved the variety and was looking forward to hearing what came next!
Combat, Platforming, Boss Fights
Combat Not my favorite thing if I'm being honest. There just isn't much of a challenge outside of the boss fights and most of the time I just rolled past enemies. Basically it boils down to standing next to an enemy until they flash, rolling behind them and then just whacking away at them until their stun bar fills and repeating until death. There is a skill tree to unlock combos, and you are given access to a few other weapons (axe and claws!) that change up the combat a little but it doesn't really make a big difference. Platforming A mixed bag for me. Flynn doesn't move very quick so levels take a lot longer than you'd expect and moving around them isn't always great. You're able to roll jump to move around quicker and that does help, but sometimes the game forces you to wait while a platform moves back and forth or disappears and reappears. It frankly just slows down getting to run through the levels. There are also a few instances where Flynn will grab on ledges unnecessarily or certain actions don't come out properly resulting in deaths. Frustrating for sure on some occasions. Boss Fights I had to make a special section for the boss fights in the game because they were definitely a highlight for me. Where normal enemy encounters are dull and didn't really do anything to excite me, the bosses at the end of each area were another thing. I won't say they were exceptionally difficult (especially if you play on lower difficulties) but they offered a lot more of a challenge. Every fight had a decent variety of different attacks and the bosses actually moved around and forced you to go after them and be more active in fights. I appreciated each fight and definitely looked forward to seeing what was up to fight!
Final Thoughts, Recommend or Nah?
Flynn: Son of Crimson is a solid action adventure game. To sum it all up: Combat isn't great, but it isn't awful either. Graphics and music are FANTASTIC. Platforming is hit or miss, and the story doesn't do anything for me. This is a game I would for sure recommend for people new to this genre who want to see what it's about, but longtime fans might be disappointed. If you're on the fence, this is for sure a game I'd say get on sale. It's definitely worth at least trying! I'm going to give it ⭐⭐⭐/5 stars. Solid, but nothing special

I had this recommended to me by a few friends who are huge metroidvania fans like me. Even though this game isn't a metroidvania, which they told me in advance, i was still blown away by it. I do think that if this game had been a proper metroidvania it would have been even more amazing but it was still great as is. This game just hits all the marks for me, smooth controls, fun combat, great visuals and amazing music all wrapped in a deviously addictive & short package. Since this is a linear action platformer though i would say the focus is definately on combat which starts out simple but effective. You initially have a basic attack combo with 3 hits and a range spell that you can quickfire or charge, suplemented by a heal and dodge which also works mid air. It doesn't stay that way though since you have a multitude of unlockable attacks in your skilltree which notably increase your arsenal. They are very powerful tool but come at the cost of energy which you can recharge with basic attacks. On a full bar you can unleash a rage mode for a while that's both incredibly overpowered and satisfying to use. Most enemies don't require much of this though as the game is pretty easy but it's still fun to go ham on enemies. Speaking of enemies there were unfortunately not that many different kinds to fight but each one was still fun and engaging. The bosses were the real highlights though but they didn't pose much of a challenge either. This is fine for me though as not every game has to be brutally difficult as is seemingly the norm nowadays. You won't struggle with platforming too much either as it's all pretty straightforward which didn't get boring as the game manages to keep platforming engaging throughout. The excellent level design uses many level specific mechanics that keep the game fresh during exploration. The controls also feel very smooth although the wall jump you unlock in the final few levels does feel a tad clunky. Not a dealbreaker though as there's no particularly difficult sections that push this mechanic. On a final note in regards to exploration, most levels have one collectible to find which is well telegraphed and gives a bunch of currency which you can use to unlock the aforementioned new moves. This created a satisfying progression loop and made exploration feel rewarding. If anything you wanna keep going just to see all the sights as this game has absolutely beautiful pixel art and a wide range of environments. The visuals really pop and it's super colourfull even in the darker environments, i took many screenshots while playing but even more beautiful than the art was the music. The music in Flynn is simply amazing, it felt so upbeat and melodic which made it all feel very heroic in a nostalgic sort of way. I'll be picking up the OST later for sure. In terms of story it was a pretty standard affair, nothing incredible but not bad either. It was just okay but performance and degree of polish were great. The real reason to play this though is the fun gameplay and incredible visuals & music. Worth the price of admission despite the lenght, but certainly worth it on a sale!
