Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.5/day in the week to Aug 3 → 0.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

DG:A was a very fun game for me. I liked the high difficulty but it might scare some players away. I really enjoyed the dark atmosphere and the big build variety. For me: the only real problem is the navigation, which can feel very annoying and frustrating at times
This was a very fun game, with a twist of metroidvania and soulslike that is a very cool concept. My main problem lies with the story. For the most part you have this medieval setting with magic and knights and all that great jazz. But out of nowhere it throws you into this technologically advanced Terminator zone that feels extremely disconnected to the rest of the game. As the story progresses, it keeps the same tone of defeating this eldritch evil, but it'll randomly sprinkle in the technology element, making it feel completely out of place to what's happening. Hell, the final boss reads out your computer's name and everything. Great game, the story just started to interest me less and less the further I went on.
I think the consequences of dark souls' success should be studied.
Oh boy, I love this game! I wasn't expecting anything special, but it completely surprised me. I love the world, the music, the lore, THE HUMOR(!) It's a great metroidvania that's quite challenging without feeling unfair. Highly recommended!
a pretty good 2D dark souls inspired game, not so much a good metroidvania, but that doesn't detract from the experience at all while theres a few odd hitboxes here and there, some odd audio balancing, story explanation that gets thrown on you very rapidly at the start with no breathing room, frustrating boss fights (especially on the rematches) and some lacking areas, death's gambit is a very good game held up massively by death himself as well as the antagonists, some absolutely outstanding stuff in here at points the game gets better as it goes on, with the opening being much weaker than the rest of the game with boss fight quality *generally* improving as the game goes on. the only exceptions being some heroic boss fights, which can be fun but usually feel too overtuned to the point of being obnoxiously difficult or more specifically giving you a very small window to take out a spawned enemy during the fight before the boss returns, which if both are on you at once it becomes basically impossible as the movement and general combat of this game is not equipped for something like that, forcing you to rush down spawns asap which gates you out of doing some of these fights at lower levels, giving you the most blatant form of dps checks i think ive seen which is a bit of a shame. it feels very satisfying to use different builds and classes to blitz through bosses despite being underpowered relative to where the game suggests you should be, so to have some bosses include mechanics and segments that seemingly dont allow for this is a shame, but not a deal breaker as the main contributors to this are at the very end of the game, meaning you'll be as strong as you can be at that point if you can get past some of the oddities and brutal difficulty, death's gambit is a great game that manages to stick out more than i was expecting it to 8/10
Death's Gambit (Afterlife) is a challenging souls-like Metroidvania. For me personally this is a 10/10, because of the atmosphere in general, the soundtrack and the boss mechanics. Highlight: Boss design in this game is masterclass, shining brightest when you challenge them again on "heroic" difficulty. I easily sank 100+ attempts into mastering the toughest fights. The tougher the fight, the more satisfying the rush when you finally beat them. But don't worry if you aren't a masochist—these extreme challenges are completely optional, leaving the core game perfectly accessible. Defeated bosses can be rematched on "heroic" difficulty, featuring faster, tougher and expanded mechanics. Pro: - Extremely well-done boss mechanics. Each boss will be remembered. - Additional (optional) heroic difficulty mode for each boss, for everyone who enjoys a real challenge. - Solid souls-like fighting style (parry, dodge etc.) - Insane atmospheric soundtrack! Just listen to these boss themes: Galaxy Mage Amulvaro, The Grey Wanderer or Endless. - Great cost to playtime ratio - especially if it is on sale. - Diverse classes and skill trees to suit every playstyle. - Small suprises, references to other games and self-irony. - Large (but not too large) map with different biomes to explore. Neutral: - Cool story concept, but nothing you haven't heard before. - Even though there are many classes and skill trees, there are only few weapons for every weapon class, similar to Dark Souls. Like
3 Scythes, 2 Great Hammers, 4 Great Swords etc.
- Occasional sharp difficulty spikes, that might be too sharp for casual players (though heroic boss modes remain optional). Con: - In the first playthrough:
Bast.
- Maybe for some players too much "souls-like"? Overall: As stated in the beginning, this game is a 10/10 for me personally. I spent a long time looking for flaws/cons, but honestly, there's nothing to complain about. Given how good it is, it’s shocking that this game has flown under the radar. It’s a true hidden gem. If you like the fighting style of Dark Souls, and like 2D metroidvania games - give it a try :) Shameless self-plug: I put together my first-ever guide, focusing on how to get the speedrun achievement. Check it out!
