It is a time of war. Galbadia, a Global Superpower, has declared war on Dollet, a country whose training academy is home to two personalities: the hot-headed Seifer and the 'lone wolf', Squall Leonhart. Both are equally at conflict with each other as their country is with Galbadia; to others, Squall appears lacking in team spirit, while...

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
11 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

While I still think its the weakest of the PS1 final fantasys, the game has grown on me over the years. While I'm still not a big fan of the junction system, trying something new is never a bad thing. The story is definitely convoluted, but in the end, its basically a space opera love story, and I kinda dig it. If you're gonna play it these days, I recommend the Succession and Martial Law mods. The dialogue is completely rewritten and gets rid of the amnesia and time compression. That changes everything and makes the story a bit more enjoyable. Martial Law is a rebalancing mod that lessens the impact of how quickly junctioning can make you OP and gives the characters and GFs more identity.
We rarely get sci-fi JRPGs. So consider adding this to your collection if you want absolutely stunning prerendered backgrounds and world design.

11 on sale4 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 4 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 11 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

wonderfull story
The much maligned and woefully underrated black sheep of the post-3D era final fantasy games, it's still my favorite. The PC version was always a little finicky, but at least it finally let us westerners play Chocobo World. That said, its showing on the steam version is disappointing. The audio is horrible - weird delays, glitching out entire tracks of the bgm, and at times going completely quiet. The controls are still a disaster for controller players (and the devs recommend it, for some reason?), but most of the minigames (like the train codes) are forgiving enough so far that I could get my bearings without too much trouble. I could overlook that and give it a recommend for nostalgia's sake, but for the hassle of trying to set up a 3rd party Squeenix account to even play it.
find a guide to maximize use of the junction system, but besides that, such a great story
one of the best games in the world
Eines der besten Spiele die ich je gespielt habe !
+++++++
it is similar to what i remember the ps4 controllers do work with some editing
I think I may have been too harsh on this game back in it's day for it's horrible draw system, long animations, not-too-fun-first half (teenage angst and awkwardness personified), and dependence on a card game for side content. I believe FFX is actually worse than this in every single way. You need someone to have "the" conversation with you to have this game make sense. This is the real first Final Fantasy to go heavy into narrative and story, at plenty of faults at many times. This is the real first Final Fantasy to encourage you to stay low level and engage with it's systems for maximum benefit. In retrospect, it's an almost surrealistic sci-fi fantasy focused around two lovers and a cast of connected misfits. Said misfits are not nearly as fleshed out as previous games but are also very clearly not the focus here. You may not remember all the (insane) story beats but many of this locations I feel inherently unlock youthful fun summer memories to me.
