FINAL FANTASY V

A successor to the FF 3 job system - the gameplay is about as good as it gets from the pixel remasters. Similiar in quality and enjoyability to FF 4, slightly worse story, slightly better gameplay. A lot longer in comparison to the previous games.

Best version of the best classic 2D FF imo. Great remaster ost and the option for classic music. Boost mechanic allows for faster playthroughs and cool challenge runs. Adding more replay value to a already replayable game. My thoughts on the changes to the gameplay are positive for the most part like buffing classes like monk, dancer, and dragoon. Giving bows and whips more added utility. Being able to skip turns like future games with the ATB system. This game itself is fun even after 30 years later. Very worth picking it up on a sale.

Second best 2D Final Fantasy, amazing remaster

Best of the classic Final Fantasy games when it comes to mechanical depth and replayability. So many great things here. Peak job system, awesome world that evolves with the story, and above all else... GIRUGAMESH!

Overall I'm enjoying my time with this pixel remaster, but I can't recommend it because it has this horrible issue where the camera stutters while moving with the player. It's incredibly jarring and the only reason I'm enjoying the port is because I'm using a modified dll with an older version of the game to smooth out the camera as best as it can. If it weren't for this one thing, I would easily recommend this port. I do like the qol features in this port, such as the auto battle and ability to change experience, money, and ability points earned each battle, turning encounters off (this trivilaized that basement room with the demon that 1shots your party as you try to get an early elf cape), etc. There's a few things I find questionable tho, like why is page up/down and switching characters on separate keybinds? They worked perfectly fine when combined in earlier versions of the game. Why is the encounter rate so frequent when you get the fire ship in this version? Why do you have to press a button to show item/job descriptions when both that and the stats could easily fit in the same area? Why can't you swap through characters when in the equipment menu if you got there after assigning a new job or ability? These minor things aside, I'd still recommend the game, if it wasn't for the stuttering camera. If this ever gets fixed in a future patch, I'll check my recommendation.
