Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 25 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's good. It's very much held back by the financial and technological limitations inherent in the game. This is most noticeable when it comes to the UI. For example, you design a car. You, as a company based in North America, don't want your factories shipping to Australia and incurring huge costs. So you open a new sub-brand for Australia. Your new car is branded for NA, but you can manually redesign the vehicle to re-badge it in Australia, allowing both companies to produce and sell the model. This is maybe 10 clicks or so. But uh. You don't have 2 brands, you have 5. And you don't have one model of car, you have maybe 20 separate types of vehicles. And every single vehicle type must be updated at minimum once every 5 years. And if you are changing any of the components and moving to a new generation, that's more clicks. For every single model. For every single brand. Every couple years. Forever. It's *unbelievably* monotonous, and is always the reason I eventually put the game back down. But if you're here, looking at this review on a multiple year old business sim, and seriously considering whether it's worthwhile. Well. You're probably used to the nonsense inherent in the genre. You want a game about fiddling with numbers. You want a game about making decisions. You want a game that respects your intelligence and trusts you, the player, to succeed or ♥♥♥♥ up by your own merits. And you are constantly chasing the high of breaking through the challenge and succeeding beyond the confines of the game. For all the flaws it has, and it does have many, GearCity still delivers on that core fantasy. And truthfully? I think that's all that matters.

As someone who enjoys spreadsheets a little more than is probably healthy, this game is fantastic. It made me forget that my employer laid off everyone(including me) recently. I'm enjoying my unwillingly, but hard earned, unemployed evenings thanks to it And if I were to describe it in one sentence, it would be something like: "If you've ever looked at a spreadsheet and thought 'this could be a game,' you'll probably love GearCity too."

The game offers exactly what it promises. If you find tycoon games too simplistic, this is the way to go. It's one of very few management games that try to go really deep into the actual management. Taxes, loans, bonds, stocks, splits, branches, marques, sub companies, dividends, unions, competition and everything else you can imagine. Running the company is really fun. You will definitely learn to read the montly reports to find things hidden between the lines. The competition is real and not scripted. The economic situation changes etc. Designing vehicles and parts is pretty straightforward but it gives a lot of different strategies. Are you going to develop just one type of a part and reuse it for different car models? Or you want to design specific parts for each? Do you aim at luxury clients with high prices and low sales or are you going to go for mass production for casual client on minimal margin? Will selling cheap cars affect your company ratings and maybe it's beter to create a different marque for that? Are you going to preserve money or risk high by issuing bonds and hoping to increase profits to pay them back? Are you goind to go public and will you later buy back your stocks or continue to dillute them? Or maybe you want to buy stocks and possibly take over other companies? Are you going to invest heavy into R&D or maybe you preffer more marketing? This game might seem hard to get into but the tutorials explain the basics and it's not really that hard to get into itt. After a few hours you basically know everything you need about the game mechanics. But learning to actually drive a successful company is another thing and this can take much more time. The game has many different mechanics to explore but non of them is overcomplicated. I find it well balanced between complexity and playability. The UI might seem a bit overwhelming at first but honestly you quickly learn how to use it and automation helps you with micromanagement as the company grows. It's an amazing game and well worth the prices especially if you are interested in some deeper simulation of economics and a feeling of really running a company in realistic environment.
I know almost nothing about cars. I drive a Honda. It gets me from point A to B in relative comfort and safety. That didn't stop me from building a car company that survived the Great Depression, World War II, and rode the post-war boom to international dominance. A+ game. Very addicting once you figure it out.
Started out wanting to be a American super car company and ended up selling 1.25 million minivans last year..............10/10
I understand why so many people like this game. Its because it contains very advanced knowledge in business management and economy. But personally it made me feel very tired. I wanted to play a game not to feel like i am working.
I very rarely give a review even if its a goat-ed game but i have to take the time to leave one here. Really only 2 other games compare to this one for me, Capitalism Lab and Software inc. Less so for the latter. The biggest difference for me with GC is that i can solely focus on the economic synergies and not have to deal with building and managing a city or an office. Don't get me wrong, I love those game aspects when I'm in the mood for it but sometimes you just want pure economic management and that is what you get with this game and really, its so good. Of course this game is not lacking in design gameplay though, since you can build so many different car models and get as advanced or simplistic as you want. But wait it gets better, you don't have to know really anything about automotive mechanics or design to LOVE this game. Sure it helps if you do a little research but the games help menu and tutorial are more than enough to get you playing and even succeeding. I could go on but I wont. I hope you enjoy this as much as I will for many many hours. Thanks Devs!
This game shouldn't be called a game! It is the most in depth simulator that I have ever played. Great program. Love it. (Once you learn how to use it) I highly suggest using the tutorial for EVERYTHING!
