A very short and sweet game

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

FAR: Lone Sails is an atmospheric minimalist adventure game about crossing a dried-out ocean in a strange, massive vehicle. You play as a lone traveler following the remains of a civilization that seems to have disappeared long ago. There isn't much explanation about who you are, where exactly you are going, or what happened to the world. Instead, the game leans into environmental storytelling: abandoned structures, wrecks, ruins and the occasional outstanding discovery along the way. Your main character is also completely anonymous. There is very little dialogue and almost no traditional storytelling. You are simply there, ever moving forward, and the world around changes slowly and give you what can only be some hints as to what happened before events of the game. And this is pretty much the entire gameplay loop: move forward, maintain the machine, overcome an obstacle, and keep moving forward. There isn't really any combat, complicated progression system or demanding resource management. The game is surprisingly easy, and even when something goes wrong, it rarely feels particularly punishing. You are mostly left to enjoy the process of operating this strange machine while watching the landscape slowly change around you. You main resource to worry about if fuel and there isn't shortage of it that requires some good management of. This simplicity is both the game's greatest strength and probably its biggest weakness. It lives on its is extreme atmospheric surrounding. Empty landscapes, muted visuals, sound of the machinery and especially the soundtrack create a oddly comforting feeling. There is something very satisfying about getting the vehicle running and gaining momentum forward and establishing a certain rythm. But that's it. The game is short, and its mechanics are simple enough that you've pretty much seen everything it has to offer in the first 30 minutes, and 90 minutes after that, it's over. Fortunately, I don't think it really needs to be much longer, and really shouldn't be. However one might wonder how it gets so much overwhelmingly positive reviews, though. I mean it's polished and the platforming is well done, the visuals an music serve the atmosphere, but it's also a short, forgiving experience with extremely limited gameplay. The vehicle-maintenance loop is clever and satisfying, but once you've understood it, there isn't much depth left. At full price, though, I have a hard time recommending it. The game is very short, very simple, and once you've experienced its journey there isn't much reason to return. That isn't necessarily a flaw, but it does make its asking price harder to justify. This is the kind of game I'd happily recommend on sale, where its short length becomes much less of an issue.
