Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
10 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 2 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Slow paced, nearly impossible to complete without guides, multiple gaming breaking bugs, frequent crashes, yet when everything clicks together it's so much fun and so damn addictive. A rough gem from a simpler time.
I replay this gem once in a few years. It's one of those games that just hit all the right spots. Much better than EG2. 2 mods you absolutely needs for QoL improvemens: * Resolution Fix * Unofficial Evil Genius Patch by Planet Evil Don't alt-tab, it will crash the game. Also remember to save often.

Merits: ▪ Original concept ▪ Decent graphics for the time ▪ Funny animations Flaws: ▪ Low resolution textures & models ▪ Dumb AI ▪ Tedious progression Verdict: I love the idea of the game and enjoyed it back in the day, but it did not hold up well. It has that Austin Powers/No One Lives Forever vibe with their signature quirky humour. The gameplay is a mix of Dungeon Keeper and a typical board game. Unfortunately, progression is slow and tedious, thus it overstays its welcome. Since Steam does not have a neutral rating, I will recommend it, but take it with a pinch of salt. One of the first games I remember playing until well past midnight when it was released. That was when I had to use a CD to launch the game. Picking it up on Steam, the idea was to revisit those memories of good times gone. Instead I end up with frequent CTDs. And I forgot how annoying it is to get money. I'm sure there's a patch that will fix this game for modern systems. But that point of friction alongside the cash issue makes this game sit in the purgatory space of my library to be forgotten.
So campy and fun. I remember playing this game to death when I had the CD-ROM version and I've played the Steam version even more than that. That said, I cannot recommend the use of guides and the unofficial patch enough, as this game can be obtuse at times and straight up broken at others. When it's working on a technical level, though, you will find a game with a ton of style, humor, and replayability.
Building a secret volcano lair has never felt more right. Evil Genius scratches that supervillain itch in a way nothing else really does: managing your minions, setting up traps and watching secret agents stumble into your elaborate death rooms is genuinely satisfying. It's not perfect and the pacing can drag a bit mid game. This game is lowkey a hidden gem that deserves way more attention than it gets. If you've ever wanted to live out your world domination fantasy while micromanaging a bunch of hapless henchmen, this is it chief. [8/10]
It is a very unique concept it is done very well the humor is very on point and is filled with tiny details Certainly a game that will let you flex your creative muscles have a bit of malign fun and still holds up despite its age. Truly A game that I hope receives a successor one day (Looks over shoulder) A different successor
OLD SCHOOL, but I like it! Recommendations YouTube TikTok
A Classic That Still Holds Up Even after all these years and what feels like millions of games released since Evil Genius first launched, this game still delivers. Even in 2026, I genuinely think the original Evil Genius deserves a place on every gamer's list. It's one of those games that has a unique charm that modern games just don't quite replicate. If you've never played it, you're seriously missing out. It's incredibly fun, has plenty of personality, and is the kind of game you can easily lose hours to. If you haven't played the original Evil Genius, definitely grab it when you get the chance.
