For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. If you like beta testing early versions and airships, have I got a game for you.... For players that want a finished product, I'd suggest you get a free taste with the airship builder and wait a bit. Reviewed at V0.19 - This is VERY early access. You are donating to alpha/beta test. Once you get going, I found playing airship mechanic marine really fun -- smash, collect, build, explore, and whoops--I'm falling out of the sky to death, again. Then you hit the early content wall. I found this fun like playing the WoW beta and hitting level cap at 20. My hopes are high on Liftium for this one. There's some weird bugs that really stand out visually, but unless you're crashing, it's quite playable, until you hit the content limit. First steps: Smash some mobs, loot some chests for Hinges & Sprockets, then research crafting those before you use them. Build a Glider and Tools--then everything else. New player entry is a little sparse. There is very little hand holding yet. Tooltips and guides are confusing at times. If you play the survival/build games with gathering and building, this shouldn't be too hard to figure out. The Winch tooltips/info threw me - Harpoon for big items, Net for small junk. If you get the ship listing bug, dry dock to reset level. Combat AI is really simplistic at this point, which felt good for first tier mobs. Current mob progression is just more tanky. Airship combat is also very simplistic--they just fly a loop, shoot at you a couple times then return to their path. There's the simple alpha scout ship you just shoot, then the fancier second gen ships with loot and cores. I did like boarding enemy ships for fun and profit.
This can result in a fair amount of resources, but collecting them is a bit of a trick. Remember the First Maxim: "Pillage, then burn." The upgraded glider is a must have for this. Easy Mode: Just harpoon the enemy airship so your airship stays close, then smash the guns or tank the airship damage. Wood hulls will shrug off several hits. Hint: Free floating loot will survive the ship explosion.
Echoes of Elysium represents a highly promising contribution to the open-world survival RPG genre, taking the traditional survival elements off the ground and launching them into the skies. I really enjoy that the game bets heavily on building your own flying fortresses and intensely exploring a procedurally generated open world filled with floating debris and islands. The feeling of piloting massive airships, combined with the necessity of mining resources and facing mechanical threats, created a captivating atmosphere of a celestial paradise within the very first few hours. In many ways, it reminded me of the style and gameplay freedom found in the older title Worlds Adrift. From a gameplay perspective, I have to praise the excellent vessel editor, which gives you absolute freedom to build anything from a nimble scout ship to a massive battleship, where the physics and weight of each part realistically affect the flight characteristics. I mostly enjoy the straightforward ship combat, the vertical exploration of floating islands, and great mechanics like the grappling hook for collecting debris mid-flight or the functional jetpack. The building and maneuvering of a massive aerial base work as a great sandbox with immense potential, even when playing completely solo. Furthermore, the technical state is solid for an Early Access title, and the game does not suffer from brutal framerate drops. However, the game struggles with elements that drastically and artificially stretch the playtime, which you feel especially as a lone wolf. What annoys me the most is the implemented time-gating and the necessity of constantly repairing your ship. Weapons and gear have terrible durability, and enemies attacking from weird angles force me to constantly babysit the vessel, otherwise I return from exploration to a battered wreck. Smelting basic resources in furnaces takes unnecessarily long, which kills the game's pacing, and progression is tied to pure luck with RNG. You have to mindlessly destroy dozens of ships just for one single component to even move forward in the technology tree. On top of that, the user interface occasionally glitches—crafting stations sometimes stop registering materials in chests properly or the crafting process itself gets stuck, forcing a game restart. ✅ Excellent, detailed, and highly creative building of your own airships from scratch. ✅ Smooth gameplay, solid optimization, and fantastic vertical exploration with a jetpack. ✅ Great feeling of steering massive ships and a stylish design for the mechanical monsters. ❌ Frustrating time-gating, where smelting resources and crafting components takes unnecessarily long. ❌ Aggressive RNG progression system and the need to constantly repair your fragile ship. ❌ Occasional UI bugs that freeze crafting or the loading of storage boxes. Echoes of Elysium is a craft-wise very promising project that absolutely excels at creative ship building. However, all the mentioned shortcomings and annoying grind need to be taken with a grain of salt, as the title is at the very beginning of its Early Access journey. Fortunately, the developers at Loric Games are releasing continuous updates, quickly responding to community feedback, and have already started tweaking crafting speeds and UI behavior in the first patches. If the developers maintain this pace and properly balance the game based on user feedback, the title is well on its way to becoming an absolute genre hit in the future. It is definitely worth trying out right now.
A fun Survival game that dosent overly hold your hand. if you are patiant and enjoy figuring things out for yourself this is the game for you
This is one of the best games that I have ever played. The combat, the ability to create your own ship is amazing! I would like to see more development in what you can do with your ship as well as more crafting and decorating abilities.
for a 0.19 version of a game, it has one of the best frame works ive seen in years to become a title i will refer back to in years to come as a game i loved playing. the the game play its building is much like beloved titles like raft or even sea of thieves, but at a bigger level where the player has more control over how to play the game. i cant wait for when this game full releases and gets more content to the game cause i have a lot of faith in these developers. joined there discord and for a early access game they are very professional and active!
NOT VERY PLAYABLE AT THIS STAGE.... VERY VERY BUGGY
I used to enjoy this game but with the new onboarding when you start a new game it leaves me zero desire to play . starting with no glider and having it gated behind research that requires a hinge but until then you have a jump and that's it completely ruins any desire to play. I am not sure why you would want to start new players with an experience of jump and hop[e you can grab the floating material . it is a shame .
When i played it i thought that it was only run on server instances, people and the developer did hilight that it has a single player options for local which i may not have been in or able to find as it seems unclear. is you do run in server side instances it leads to long loading time just to play whenever you play and also inermitant desync issues. Not sure why this game need to run this way and why it needs to be run through a server instance. Due to lack of discloser and the loading issue i have requested a refund.... im a dad of small kids. i only get 20 mins or so at a time to play and half of that is lost to load.... and my machine is decent. ****I have edited this review and changed it from negitive because the developers responded to it. when i played i looked everywhere for the sign player local machine option. if this was easier to find it would be great.if someone can point out how to do this i would actually pay to play this game again as i did like the idea.
Despite being in very early access the flight mechanics are already tons of fun. If you ever find yourself as the helmsman in multiplayer games you'll have fun with ships!
