Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.71/day in the week to Aug 10 → 1.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I'm a 71 year old lady and absolutely love this game! It's ridiculously campy like a bad Japanese monster movie, but fun as can be. If you need to play a shooter and like a FPS this one scratches a lot of itches. Plus if an old lady an do it, so can you! :)

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair is a high-octane, over-the-top third-person shooter developed by Sandlot and published by D3 Publisher. As a remastered and enhanced version of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 2025, this installment refines and expands on the franchise’s signature blend of chaotic action, massive scale battles, and campy sci-fi fun. The game plunges players into a relentless war against hordes of gigantic alien insects, robots, and other bizarre monsters threatening Earth’s very existence. What makes EDF 4.1 stand out is its unabashed embrace of arcade-style gameplay where quantity, destruction, and sheer spectacle take precedence over realism or subtlety. Right from the start, EDF 4.1 immerses players in frantic firefights where thousands of enemies swarm the battlefield in enormous waves. The core gameplay revolves around picking one of four soldier classes—Ranger, Wing Diver, Fencer, and Air Raider—each with distinct playstyles and abilities, then using a vast arsenal of weapons and vehicles to mow down the alien menace. The diversity of gear is staggering, ranging from conventional rifles and rocket launchers to bizarre experimental weapons and devastating mechs. Players must adapt their tactics depending on the enemy composition and mission objectives, making each stage a hectic puzzle of survival and destruction. The satisfying feedback loop of blasting hordes, dodging enemy attacks, and watching massive explosions unfold is the beating heart of the experience. Visually, EDF 4.1 embraces a colorful, if somewhat dated, aesthetic that perfectly fits the game’s campy tone. The character models and environments may not be cutting-edge by modern standards, but the sheer scale of the battles more than makes up for it. Cities crumble under fire, giant bugs swarm across streets, and huge robots stomp across the terrain with impressive weight. The sound design complements the chaos with loud, punchy weapon effects and an energetic soundtrack that pumps up the adrenaline. While the graphics aren’t particularly polished or realistic, they serve the gameplay well, reinforcing the arcade feel and letting players focus on the exhilarating action rather than visual fidelity. The mission design in EDF 4.1 is varied and engaging, ranging from straightforward extermination runs to complex objectives that require strategic use of vehicles, air support, and class abilities. While some missions repeat similar enemy types or objectives, the scale and intensity rarely feel stale due to the unpredictable nature of enemy waves and battlefield hazards. The game also supports local and online co-op multiplayer, which is arguably where it shines the most. Playing with friends adds a new layer of tactical depth and chaotic fun, as players coordinate their classes and weapons to cover different roles and maximize destruction. The multiplayer mode fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and shared triumph amid the overwhelming odds. One of the defining features of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 is its unapologetic campiness and embrace of B-movie sci-fi tropes. The story is minimal, mostly serving as a backdrop for the action, featuring cheesy voice acting and cliché dialogue about alien invasions and humanity’s last stand. This lighthearted approach is refreshing and endearing, as it encourages players not to take the game too seriously and instead revel in the absurdity and spectacle. It’s a game that wears its heart on its sleeve, proud of its low-budget roots and committed to delivering pure, unfiltered fun. Despite its many strengths, EDF 4.1 is not without flaws. The controls can feel a bit clunky at times, especially with the more complex classes like Wing Diver and Air Raider, which require managing flight or support systems. The camera can also be problematic during intense battles, occasionally getting stuck or making it difficult to track enemies. Additionally, the AI, while providing constant pressure, is somewhat simplistic and predictable, which might limit the challenge for some seasoned players. However, these issues are relatively minor in the context of the game’s chaotic and fast-paced nature. In conclusion, EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair is a wildly entertaining, adrenaline-fueled shooter that excels at delivering massive-scale battles and cooperative mayhem. It’s a game built for players who crave relentless action, outrageous weaponry, and hordes of alien enemies to blast to bits. While it doesn’t push technical boundaries or narrative depth, its sheer scale, class variety, and cooperative gameplay create a uniquely satisfying experience. For fans of over-the-top arcade shooters and sci-fi chaos, EDF 4.1 remains a standout title that perfectly captures the spirit of the franchise and offers countless hours of explosive fun. Rating: 9/10
Peak Action Combat Game with optional Coop
This game is peak EDF (it doesn't have the technical issues and EGS ties that EDF 6 has) and it's just a fun way to spend time, especially with friends, which you can still do btw, via online coop, splitscreen or Remote Play Together. For those who aren't familiar with this franchise, it's a game about fighting aliens, giant monsters, and giant bugs which are invading the Earth in a way that feels a lot like a fun 1950s era B-movie. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3744355810 I've seen people compare this to Starship Troopers but unlike that franchise, this isn't about being a Space Fascist; you are just defending your home planet from evil aggressors. (EDF 6 kind of messes that up but you don't need to think about that if you play this game.)
Easy to get into
This is one of the easiest games to get into. There are lots of difficulty settings so it's easy to find one that suits you and every unlocked mission is repeatable. The controls are also pretty straightforward and the game plays well with either a controller or a keyboard and mouse).
Lots of options and depth
You have a lot of classes to choose from including a fast moving jetpack Wingdiver with energy weapons, a modern warfare soldier, a power armor soldier, a guy who calls in airstrikes and vehicle drops, etc. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3744377494 My bro and I play this completely differently but we both have fun. You really can have it your way and it's fun to experiment.
Upgrades and Unlocks
In this game, you can permanently unlock new weapons and upgrade your armour by picking up crates that are dropped by by defeated enemies. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3744366506 This means that you never feel like you are grinding for cash (there is no money in this game) you spend zero time thinking about managing inventory, and you unlock more and better options for equipping your characters the longer you play. The fact that you can also repeat any mission that you've already done makes this very user-friendly since you can always get more stuff if you want to or retry missions on higher difficulty or with different gear.
Conclusion
This is a good game and if you get it on sale (which at the time of writing it is) it's also a good deal. Like Resident Evil 5 and my other favorites, it's good, clean fun. P.S. Also, this game is MUCH more fun than Helldivers, Darktide,/i] and the rest of the live-service blight that currently makes up so much of the available market in coop games. In fact, unlike those games, it runs offline with full prgression and it's actually fun to play it that way.
i love this game so much. it has such a charm to it. this game revels in the goofy dialogue and mishmash of weaponry you'll have to shoot down giant insects. its just overall extremely fun and difficult. definitely worth the $20, even more worth if its on sale :3
Um baygon resolvia muita coisa.
personally as a poor person. Literally THE BEST game to play without internet.
