Reviews
The tool is cool for what it is, but it's too limiting where it could be so much more, as long as your build falls directly into what it allows and does, it's great, when you start wanting to do things a little outside of it's rather restrictive box, it just feels like other map makers are better. It does a really good job of providing clutter and stuff to dungeons but... that shouldn't be the biggest selling point of your map maker software.
this is not AI powered if you make a room its always the same layout and be happy if a 30x30 room has more then 1 item

DA is an excellent choice for any GM that wants the ability to build maps quickly. The community hub is awesome and it's inspiring to see so many creative ideas. Pros: It's fast, it's got tons of assets, and the ability to use First-Person can be immersive. Cons: There are "hiccups" when loading or accessing community assets at times. If you have a very specific art style or layout in mind -- it can be very frustrating to get there. I recommend this overall and am excited to see it improve as it grows.
Really good tool for DM/DK. It has intuitive controls, a decent size library of objects/textures which make throwing together a map for a TTRPG super easy. Many a time I've put together a map for a session in the next hour. It's really easy to export said maps to your chosen virtual table top software. So far, we've been restricted to one level of map but with the most recent update you can now add multiple levels, which was may major compliant. Can't wait to see what they do next with this software.
Pretty tone deaf development and support team. Currently, the game doesn't load - it's broken after a massive update. The only reply the team can be bothered with is "we know" and form replies like "try all these generic steps" despite the fact that there's a massive problem. Bad communication of issues and solutions. Lazy responses with an even worse "you're wrong -we're right" attitude. If that's all cool with you - sure, give it a shot.
this is easily the best battle map making tool for a gm. it can create either simple generic maps, or you can dial it in as detailed as you like. i put the exact number of paintbrushes on a table on time. another time i made a set of 8 multilevel taverns in about 20 min. the one thing it does not do is anything larger then a city square. a city map up to continent maps are better if you use another product. but for battle maps, unparalleled.
Great map builder. Also fun for virtual dungeons in POV mode. I let my kids draw base and dungeon ideas on my battlemat and then translate them into Dungeon Alchemist and make poster/maps for them. I only wish it was compatible with Talespire, then it would be perfection.
i bought this completely blind looking for a way to quickly make maps for my dnd groups, and i can say. THIS ♥♥♥♥ IS GAS!!! i primarally am running starfinder right now and although this is not vanilla designed for that, the workshop assets make it doable with some out of box methods, i am cranking out high quality maps like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PSYCHO
