About
Dune: Awakening is an epic Open World Survival Game where you get to fully immerse yourself in one of science fiction’s most iconic worlds.
You have been chosen by the Bene Gesserit to go to Arrakis as their agent and uncover the mystery of the missing Fremen. Visit locations such as Arrakeen and Hagga Basin and meet familiar characters such as Duke Leto Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, as you unravel an epic Dune story never told before: yours.
Whether you prefer to play alone or with friends, Dune: Awakening gives you the opportunity to explore a vast, open world Arrakis brimming with secrets to discover, stories to investigate, gadgets to craft, vehicles to assemble, and bases to build. You choose which path to take as you rise from survival to greatness.
Avoid the roaming sandworms. Seek shadows to stay out of the scorching sun. Study the slow blade or learn to master the powers of the Mentat and Bene Gesserit. Build a modest home or a massive base and decorate it to reflect your character’s unique personality. Climb mountains or craft your ornithopter and take to the skies.
Dune: Awakening gives you a living, breathing Dune on a scale never seen before.
Discover a dynamic and immersive Arrakis, from the rolling sand dunes of the Deep Desert to hidden Fremen caves and the bustling city streets of Arrakeen. Climb towering mountains with the Shigawire hook and fly across sandworm-infested deserts in an ornithopter you built yourself. Escape the destructive might of the massive sandstorms towering above you as they sweep across the landscape, then take a quiet moment to witness the beauty of Arrakis when the sun is low.
In Dune: Awakening, you get to step into the books and movies and experience one of science fiction’s most incredible worlds up close. Join the Atreides or the Harkonnen and rise through their ranks as you explore their unique stories. Meet familiar characters such as Duke Leto and Feyd-Rautha, investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Fremen, and discover the truth about your own past. Unravel an epic, cinematic Dune story that asks the mind-bending question: what if Paul Atreides was never born?
Arrakis is a test that few survive. Those who do, awaken. Learn to survive the unique climate of Arrakis, chasing shade and extracting liquid from the bodies of your enemies to refine it into water. Study the teachings of the Schools of the Imperium to unlock a powerful repertoire of abilities, weapons, and tools. Wield the Trooper’s unparalleled firepower, use the Bene Gesserit voice to control your enemies, deploy the Mentat’s deceptive traps, or master the Swordmaster’s unique dance of death.
Carve out your own piece of Arrakis and build your personal base of operations. From small outposts to elaborate and towering strongholds, build everything piece-by-piece in the Atreides or Harkonnen style, or any of the other available architectural styles, and decorate it to reflect your personality. Equip it with powerful crafting machines and spice refineries and watch your power and fortune grow. Craft anything from useful desert-survival gadgets to entire vehicles such as ground cars and ornithopters.
Play alone in full single-player, multiplayer with friends on a self-hosted or rented private server, or with hundreds of other players on a public server. The full game, with all its features, content, and story, is available regardless of which mode you choose. Both single-player and private multiplayer offer extensive gameplay customization options, allowing you to scale difficulty and tune gameplay options however you like.

I'm a huge Dune fan. I've read the books, watched the films and trailers - all many times. I'm not a fan of live service games, or 'deluxe' or 'ultimate' or whatever special game editions. I'm becoming less interested in video games too. But I gave this a chance anyway. It's not worth it. I should have read the books or watched the films instead. I have no interest in playing the game again. Too late for a refund.

I spent at least 10 minutes designing my character but only ever saw their face in the mediocre cutscenes, all of which I skipped
Most if not all of the DLCs suck. I should have bought the lowest edition. Don't waste your money on cosmetics
The game is a ghost town. After playing for over 3 hours I encountered zero other players. All the server populations were 'Low'. I can see why the developers are adding a singleplayer mode. The whole live service multiplayer part is a waste of effort and time. What's the point of having anticheat if I never meet another player?
On first launch I got "You cannot proceed into the game because the login into Funcom Live Services failed" and had to restart. Then I had to restart again for some reason
Rubber banding even though I'm in the UK and connected to an EU server with the lowest ping
FPS is really low most of the time. Sometimes FPS goes high suddenly or when I stop moving. I'm not playing on a potato. The game should run smoothly. I blame Unreal Engine
Enemies can shoot as fast as they want but when I spam left click to shoot the game doesn't shoot at the same speed. It seems like the combat system or server connection is preventing my gun from shooting exactly when I left click. This makes gun combat unnecessarily difficult and annoying
Scavengers have infinite ammo but always drop around 9 light darts
Most of my 3 hours was spent running around or climbing. Very boring. Sandworms were easily avoided.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have played for 50 hours and every time I get eaten by a worn I have to rebuild everything. If I run to a base I die and I am not able to respawn anywhere else so I am stuck far from my base and I cant get there. So I have to rebuild everything again.
I absolutely cannot recommend this game. I would like to. The game itself is fun and the setting is great. Dune lovers will like it but I will not recommend it. This is one of those games where the scavengers and the sand worms are not your biggest threat. You want to know what the biggest threat in this game is? SERVER LAG!! That is right. I played through the ridiculously long tutorial. Then cleared out the entirety of the first area of the map. I was loving it. I had a base, a sand bike and enough water to keep me going. Then you get a mission telling you to move and build a new base in the second area. I packed up everything I had into the inventory on my bike and person. I even demolished my base so I wouldn't need to gather resources at the other end and I headed out to make my new base. On the way across the sand I caught the attention of a sandworm. It wasn't a problem as I had enough time to get to rocky ground. I started to veer right and then the server lagged out. By the time it stopped lagging out my bike had done a full 360 and I got killed by the worm and lost everything I had and now am expected to start over. F**k that. This game is a write off for me. I can handle losing my stuff in a game if it comes down to my skill at the game but if server lag can cause me to lose days worth of grinding, sorry, there are too many games out there for me to waste my time with this!!
I was really looking forward to picking this game up eventually. Finally did and have been nothing but disappointed. It's got some cool concepts, but it really loses a lot of the atmosphere when there's other player bases every 50 meters and enemies and loot respawn 30 seconds after you run through an area. They claim to be working on a single player experience so we'll see how that goes. Game probably should have come with single player from the start.
I have really enjoyed this game. The only thing I didn't like was PVP. Solo mains playing mainly PVE (like me) are basically used by the developers as canon fodder for the PVP players. !! WARNING !! Currently the game wont launch for me and many other players. A patch is badly needed but funco hasn't even acknowledged the widespread problem. So until then, my review stays negative,
Needs a way to run a solo or friends only server. I can't get over the fact that everywhere is either real desert or a massive suburb where you could build if a dozen people hadn't done so already, completely rips the setting apart.
