The art is in an alpha state but the gameplay is very good.
It is very unwise to be turned off from this game, and any game, purely from how it looks. This game teaches something fundamental in gaming, which is that making something fun is better than making something that looks "good". Could this game visually be seen as "Low quality"? By many, yes. But 1: who cares, and 2: I honestly don't even think this game looks that bad. It has a natural, real charm to it that can't be understated. Especially in this sick world we're in now where people shamelessly "create" things with The Machine That Does Everything For You™, and actually expect people like me and you to not only give a ♥♥♥♥ about it, but to feel any sort of emotion from it. All that aside, the game is just fun. Very simple stuff on the surface, but the consistent pace of unlocks keeps things refreshing, and the uniqueness of the classes completely revamp the game in their own gimmicky, special ways. This game has so many different mechanics all combined into it that are all just FUN and that's what's so important here. The person who made this game knows what fun is and you can tell when you play it. Interestingly, you may notice some mechanics in this similar to that of StS and later eras of Hearthstone, despite it being made years before all that. For this, it's a true anomaly in rougelites and card games in general. A real wonder of the two genres.

It's hard for me to explain why Dream Quest works. It feels fairly convoluted to play at first but has a good core gameplay heavily focused on deck synergy which is always a good start for deckbuilding games. It is also a game with quite a few game mechanics like action points, spells and equipment, giving you many dimensions to build towards. But the most controversial part about the game is how polarizing the monsters are. A lot of them will hard counter some strategies and murder you without leaving you any fighting chance. That requires either a versatile deck or avoiding them if you can. It also makes game knowledge a very very important part of beating it which can be quite discouraging at times but also rewarding when you start figuring things out. I've been playing this game on and off for years and I'll probably continue to do so now that I have it on my Steam Deck. To this day, even after Slay the Spire and the huge boom of this market, I still think Dream Quest is a very unique and fun deckbuilding roguelike.
This is one of the best games I've ever played. The game has so much replay value and its a lot deeper than you think.
its good ye
Great game. Much more tactical depth than it perhaps seems judging by the graphics, once you get past the initial levels. Very recommendable as a fairly quickly played card game, combining simple dungeon exploration with card battles against a variety of monster, each with their own deck.
Graphics made in MS Paint but the gameplay is where it's at. 7.5/10 Simple yet very fun. Interesting mechanics and tons of content. The runs are pretty random which can be annoying.
This game kinda sucks but I can't stop playing for some reason?
卡牌rougelike的始祖,并不是浪得虚名的,大赞特赞!!!
