meh, trying to sell half naked skins. can i pls have one game without this fan service crap?

A true surprise of a game. They did well to continue it despite cancelling the gacha aspect. I much prefer being able to farm as much as I need when I want it as opposed to the terrible stamina system incorporated by many gachas today. Not to mention the combat feels extremely fun, and the team synergies feel well put together and rewarding. Story is solid so far as well, with plenty to fight and explore in its world so far. Hope to see them continue to expand it.
I don't really know what to say other than I'm just... not impressed with this game. I'm going to come at this with a perspective most in the reviews don't appear to have. I actually enjoy Gacha games, particularly Zenless Zone Zero. I also liked Honkai Impact and Genshin Impact. It's obvious to anyone that has experience with these games that DragonSword is the singleplayer offline alternative to Genshin Impact, which I can respect. However. This game feels like it wants to be Genshin without really capturing or understanding what made that game so appealing to so many people, myself included. The roster of characters, for example, is... underwhelming. I also just don't find any of them particularly interesting. These sorts of games, similar to fighting games, live and die by their characters. After all, the main thing Gacha games (and their derivatives such as this one) are built expressly to sell you characters, either because they're hot or you like their abilities, personalities, etc. Unfortunately, DS feels like it lacks quite a bit in almost every way that involves characters. I quickly found myself disliking every member of the starter mercenary group, with the only one I even somewhat liked being Castella because she's a hot tanned elf. Lute barely even counts as a protagonist because he's such a pushover, Aria just... exists I guess, and Johnny is quite possibly one of the most annoying and vapid characters I've ever seen in a video game since the Adoring Fan. I don't mean to be harsh with this review, but the developers should have taken notes from ZZZ to see what makes the formula really work. If you want people to care about your story, the characters must be compelling in SOME way. Unfortunately, the target was sorely missed here. The combat is actually pretty decent and, considering my history with gacha games (even outside of Hoyoverse's titles) I found myself unbothered by the progression. But, why would I want to grind characters that I either don't care about or actively dislike? I think I'll be leaving this game on the shelf indefinitely. Even for the intended audience, being people like me that love games with hot anime women, it just couldn't get me to commit to it.
