DRAGON: A Game About a Dragon

Not fun.

i was REALLY hoping the reviews were exaggerating about this game being buggy and janky. and for the most part, i still firmly believe they are! i think the hitboxes are all very clear and it's just a matter of being more patient and observant of enemy patterns than most platformers. previously i only ran into one issue where i somehow clipped out of the dragon's house area and had to restart the game to leave since you can't exit levels from the menu. that was totally fine - i was definitely pushing too many buttons at the edge of the screen and that caused something crazy to occur. easy to avoid doing again and doesn't make me lose any progress. HOWEVER, i am running into an issue where i literally cannot start one of the later levels in the game. King's Forest 4 crashes after the opening cutscene no matter what i do. i tried changing some settings, i tried replaying the previous level but from the alternate path... but the game always crashes! it's been a long time since this game released so i don't have much hope for a fix, but if this issue was ever fixed i would come back to this game in a heartbeat because i really was enjoying it! not everyone seems to have this problem and this game is cheap enough that i personally don't regret purchasing it despite being unable to complete it, so don't take this as a hard "wouldn't recommend"! if you like the artstyle and you like slower-paced 2d platforming, you'll probably have fun! i DO have a second pc i can try the game on to see if i can finish it on there, but morally i think i need to leave the review as it is as long as i know this issue exists just so people know about it before purchasing. EDIT: this game DOES work on my other computer so i beat it! anyone in these reviews complaining about the enemies or the bosses are experiencing a "Skill Issue". with flight and breath attacks you can weave around most generic enemy attacks before moving in for the kill, with some enemies even being vulnerable to certain breath types causing them to delay their attack. the four ninja fight is really fun (you're just supposed to dodge until only two are left because before that their attacks will hit each other) and the final boss' unavoidable attack is supposed to be dealt with by using the lightning breath to break the machine that charges it. this game has some pretty inventive ways of dealing with situations that you might not expect at first glance, so there are some tips for anyone who might be having trouble!

Extremely slow and a bit buggy, final fight is softlocked by enemies. not worth the money
