Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Latest in each market: best RU #94, worst CN #96 · 2 markets collected
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

At the time I played this I really enjoyed divinity original sin 2 so much I came back and played this and it didn't feel as good. Mechanically it feels a little different. I found myself launching a playthrough, getting to the first boss and not really feeling it. It's hard to put my finger on it but I just find it as if it gives me more friction or the combat just isn't as fun.
for a game that has released 11 years ago , its really really good. Will also make you hate fire.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Has it's faults, but ♥♥♥♥ it's still pretty damn good, especially as THE big founder that lead to DOS2, BG3 and Divinity.
Got this and DOS2 on a sale quite a while after finishing BG3 and I have to say this game still holds up really well. Enjoyable combat, intriguing story and a pretty decent soundtrack, although some of the puzzles particularly in Act 3 did sour my experience a bit.
DOS2 was my entry into the genre so I had to play this and I am as far as possible from regretting it.
Writing
The story-writing is very well thought out. It engaged me in a way that had me remember little details over quite a long time period and even predicting certain outcomes. Not finding story tropes (except the fight of good vs bad) in a game this age was hella refreshing. I kinda expected it to be rather flat, but it surprised me in that regard and kept me playing even through some of the rough edges. 9/10
Gameplay
The combat is a well refined and known mix of turn based strategy and a skill progression that keeps it fresh up until the end. I only missed a few qol features from BG3, other than that it felt like home. Consumables are actually useful, and I guess needed if you play on higher difficulties. Looting is quite rng heavy, but since the game always throws so much loot at you, the loop never gets old and stays rewarding. There is also quite a bunch of hidden valuables to be found so stay sharp when traversing the map. 8/10
World
There is quite a lot to explore with (for the age of the game) beautiful landscapes that are unique throughout the game and engaging dungeons. But my god are the puzzles awful. I cant wrap my head around the fact that so many times the solution to them was a small visual clue, you are not able to see really unless you zoom in and look at every pixel, combined with hints that barely tell you anything or sometimes even only get told once so either you pay attention and write them down or gtfo. Most of them are solveable, but this kept happening so I was quite discouraged toward the end. Some of the quests and interactions were bugged for me too and I was therefore not able to complete them, but it only concerned a handful of them compared against the absolute flood of interactions and things to do. 5/10 (only bc of the flood of content)
Summary
This has been quite a blast and the game, coming from the later iterations initially, held quite a lot of surprises for me that added a lot to the experience. This is more than a solid title, but it has some rough edges, which is understandable for the release year and the budget. 40 bucks is a adequate price, if you want to support Larian, but getting it on sale enables you to look over the age of the game quite easily. Imho. 7/10
This game walked so more recent games could run. Whichever dev made all these button I-spy puzzles needs to go design different games or children's books instead. The harder difficulties require nearly 0 strategy or effort post level 8 or so and it really just becomes a check of whether or not you've done a clean run at a lower difficulty so that you know where all the random mechanics that one-hit KO your party members are at so that you don't reload/wipe. The writing is pretty good however and was the solely comforting factor of my runs. If you own dos2 or bg3 just go play those again with mods instead of this.
