New places, new toys, new gameplay, new story, more Daud and the beginning of the Delilah story continued in Dishonored 2. Essential!

Top tier writings for characters within this DLC. Daud's internal monologues cut deeper than any assassin's blade. Also, this DLC is expecting players to have finished the main game and are familiar with its gameplay mechanics. If you are unfamiliar with the base game, you'll have a very hard time during its first mission.
A great alternative expansion of the base game. You play as an assassin Daud who is trying to redeem himself after killing the empress. You get new 3 missions, new weapons and new powers to play with. Recomended. 8.5/10
Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall – Review After finishing Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall, I came away really impressed with how differently the game feels despite taking place in the same world as Dishonored. Instead of returning as Corvo, you play as Daud, the assassin responsible for murdering Empress Jessamine Kaldwin. That alone gives the entire story a completely different tone. The opening immediately hit harder than I expected. You relive Jessamine's assassination from Daud's perspective, except this time you actually see her face and look into her eyes as it happens. Hearing Daud reflect on the murder while watching it again made the scene feel even worse than it did in the original game. From there, the Outsider gives Daud a single mysterious name: Delilah. That mystery drives the entire game. Daud is incredibly fun to play. His version of Blink might actually be better than Corvo's because time freezes while you are standing still and aiming it, allowing you to plan exactly where you want to teleport. He also has his own supernatural abilities and the excellent Favors system, which allows you to purchase advantages before entering a mission. The first mission, None Like Her, is extremely short and barely feels like a mission at all, but the game quickly improves with A Captain of Industry. The Rothwild Slaughterhouse is one of the most disturbing locations in the series. Seeing how the whales are treated gives Dunwall's entire whale-oil industry an even darker meaning. I completed Granny Rags' creepy recipe, killed Rothwild, and ultimately decided to destroy the slaughterhouse. That decision accidentally killed 14 people. My Chaos immediately went through the roof. I considered regretting it, but decided to live with the consequences. That actually made my Daud playthrough more interesting because unlike my mostly controlled Corvo, Daud became considerably messier. Thankfully, Eminent Domain was much cleaner and ended up being my favorite mission. The Legal District felt like classic Dishonored: dense streets, alternate routes, apartments, secrets, overheard conversations, and plenty of opportunities to approach the objective however you wanted. Timsh also became incredibly easy to hate after hearing the way he spoke to one of his female servants. I waited outside the room while he talked to a statue of Delilah. He opened the door. I shot him in the face, shot him again, and threw his body off the balcony. Extremely satisfying. The final mission, The Surge, has excellent story moments but loses some points because much of the area had already been explored in Dishonored. What saves it is the payoff. Billie Lurk's betrayal genuinely surprised me. After spending the entire game as Daud's trusted lieutenant, discovering that she had turned against him and sided with Delilah was a great twist. I ultimately defeated her but spared her using chokedust. The biggest weakness is simply how short the game is. There are only four missions, and one of them is essentially a brief prologue. Just as the story really starts gaining momentum, the credits arrive. PROS • Playing as Daud gives the story a completely different perspective • Jessamine's assassination hits even harder from Daud's viewpoint • Daud is an excellent protagonist • His version of Blink is fantastic • Favors are a great addition • Excellent atmosphere and worldbuilding • Rothwild Slaughterhouse is disturbing and memorable • Eminent Domain is excellent • Delilah mystery keeps the story interesting • Billie's betrayal is genuinely surprising • Same gorgeous painterly art direction as Dishonored CONS • Extremely short • None Like Her barely feels like a mission • The Surge reuses an area already explored in Dishonored • Story ends just as the Delilah plot really starts getting interesting • High Chaos can happen very quickly when one decision goes horribly wrong FINAL SCORE: 8/10 Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall takes one of the most important characters from Dishonored and turns him into a fascinating protagonist. Daud isn't simply presented as an evil assassin. He is a man haunted by the murder of Jessamine, questioning the life he has built while becoming involved in something much larger than himself. The game is far too short, but the missions that matter are excellent, Daud is incredibly fun to control, and the Delilah mystery kept me invested from beginning to end. Dishonored made me love Dunwall. The Knife of Dunwall made me understand one of its most dangerous men. 8/10. Great.
