Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 11.43/day in the week to Aug 29 → 21.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I feel like the demo I played isn't particularly indicative of the rest of the game, as the mechanics focused on in Act 1 end up being mostly irrelevant to Acts 2 and 3, and the later two Acts focus on what to me feel like gimmicks that aren't very fun to engage with. I pushed through Act 2, and then I saw what Act 3 was doing, and I just gave up and uninstalled.
I'm only 4 hrs into the game there are a lot of really cool puzzles and thinking outside of the box aspects to it-- I'm intrigued by the story and am excited to continue. One callout/feature I would love to mention -- perhaps a warning of the triggers at the start of the story? Or when logging into the PC interface in game? Of all the themes in the game the warning about Self-harm on the store page was skimmed over my myself so it was a little ... abbrasive when it appeared in the game with no ability to censor or hide it, or to extract only the relevant info without displaying it on screen. The horror themes are acceptable as mature content, though I feel slightly uncomfortable recommending the game in the future in case the content gets darker and displays similar content, even if its only for one puzzle -- if the self harm content could be turned into a note beside of the body or as a scroll that might be less triggering (in this one example). Otherwise I have enjoyed the creepy aspects of the game so far and been incredibly humbled by some of the puzzles. I still recommend it to people though I make a point to callout the trigger warning myself, Cheers and thanks~

I absolutely adored my time with this game. Let's get this out of the way right now: this is a difficult logical puzzle game. If you don't enjoy logic puzzles that will require you to look at every possible angel for each solution, then this just isn't going to be for you, I'm sorry. It is extremely difficult at times, and you may need a guide or tips/hints from people in the discord if you're unwilling to walk away and give your brain the time and space it needs to solve some of these things. Obviously every person is different, so walking away and thinking on it won't always be possible, I know that - but truly this is not a game that was developed so you can rush through every single puzzle and the entire plot. You are meant to spend time in this world, with these puzzles, and in this story. Things are meant to be difficult to deduce and you're encouraged to not just leave the PC for a little bit to think, but also to leave the current puzzle you're working on and explore other avenues for possible clues or solutions. I adored this aspect of the game. Too often I find puzzles are made to be solved with minimal effort on the users' part, especially in games, which makes them seem redundant. If I'm not supposed to be thinking and struggling here then am I even using my brain? Puzzles in this game will require you to use a lot of your memory to deduce what to do next. Have you seen that symbol somewhere before? What did it mean when you saw it? Were there passwords used previously that could assist you here? A gameplay aspect you were taught an hour ago that could save you some headache here? In addition to having to use your memory for puzzles, you will have to use all the resources at your disposal as well. Are there images that go along with this puzzle? Maybe their format could be changed into a text document to further explain the puzzle or give you a clue. Or perhaps you could duplicate the image to make more of an in-game resource you need. Maybe a text file needs to be formatted differently so you can see the password. Maybe you need to look at the source code of a particular file to get a clue on how to progress. There are so many ways to do the puzzles in Desktop Explorer that it can, understandably, get overwhelming. The important thing to remember is that there is no time limit. Take your time. Let the puzzle breath. Allow yourself time to think. Ontop of wonderful puzzles I really truly loved the plot as well. Without spoiling anything, the plot deals with a lot of themes on memory, trauma, and acceptance and I found the way these topics were handled was very well done. I don't want to talk about the themes too much, for fear of spoiling some of the more meaningful story beats, but if you'd like to read more about my feelings you can check out my article all about them HERE. Needless to say, there's a lot to uncover in the logs, searches, art, and conversations of the characters within Desktop Explorer. The art work, including all UI and music, was done so well. Music will switch with each new puzzle or "area" you are in and all the tracks are wonderful - spooky when they need to be, nostalgic when need be, and so on. There are tons and tons of unique UI elements and all of them not only look good and convey the information well, but they're also completely believable as UI that would be on a retro computer like the one we're using. All in all I could go on and on about this game here, but I've already done so on my linked review and I'd rather leave it at that. Just know I truly loved this game and I highly suggest it to anyone looking for an interesting and challenging puzzle experience. No puzzle game has ever made me feel as invested and challenged as this one has, and I think that's absolutely in its favor. Easy recommend. One of my favorite games of the year. Thank you Desktop Explorer developers, this was a treat!
If I had a penny for every GOATed desktop-esque game i'd had 3 pennies. Which isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened thrice. Anyway, out of every similar vibe style games this one re-creates old Win9x experience the best. The artwork in this game is almost perfect, apart from music player's ui (too modern for some reason) and imo using painted pictures for irl photos is lil bit weird, this can ruin the immersion for someone (it did for me a lil :P) Some problems of this game i've encountered: 1. While the OST is VERY good, music player inside the game is too useless tbh. You either give player a choice to pick the track that's playing rn, or just make them act like a bgm and allow to turn it off in settings. 2. Game is VERY linear - only one ending (which imo is a BIG problem for a game like this), no deviations from the path/secrets/etc is available. There are some secret achievments but you earn ALL of them through the standart playthrough 3. Puzzles are scattered too strangely. What I mean by this is that you can spend an hour trying to solve one of them
e.g the clock puzzle in the 1st section almost ALL have problems with (see game's discussions)
only to encounter baby mode puzzles later on, till another 1hr puzzle appear :D 4. Game's trailers spoils like 1/4 of the puzzles and lore... just why...? :D 5. No multiple save slots. Which IS a problem because
this game has several achievments you cant earn anymore if you miss them during the playthrough
Other than that, great game! I've enjoyed it a lot [strike]and it filled my brainsettle's cancellation hole[/strike]
This is a really fun game from my point of view, the puzzles are fun, the retro aesthetic is amazing and the music is wonderful. If you wanna try a spooky puzzle game that gives a good challenge, it's a must buy. 10000/10
