Desktop Explorer

A very interesting puzzle game that relies on the in-game computer file system as the main gimmick, Desktop Explorer utilises this system well to craft increasingly difficult and well designed puzzles as the player intuit more of the underlying mechanics, building off of the guidance and solution of previous puzzles. Even so, what ultimately won me over was not the puzzles but the sheer strength of the game's narrative plot, which gets you hooked from the get go and never let it up, complimenting seamlessly with the puzzles in the game to make for a truly immersive experience. The end of the final act left me speechless, just staring at the screen as the credits rolled. Definitely go into it with no spoilers, you'll thank me for it later. Throughout my playthrough, I felt like almost all of the puzzles were fair and well designed (with the exception of 2 which I felt could've used slightly better hinting), though an ingame additional hint/clue system would've been welcome. All in all, an extremely strong title, both for its puzzle mechanic, story, and how both elements interwove seamlessly to make for a complete experience. Highly, highly recommended.

Immaculate vibes and challenging, creative puzzles. Gameplay changes drastically between acts, which felt jarring at first, but I think adds to narrative and immersion. I was confused about the relationship between characters with each other, especially towards the end, but an overall satisfying story.

genuinely amazing puzzle game and story. please change the hourglass puzzle though that ♥♥♥♥ was ass. but otherwise 10/10!!! i love the sweaters

This game was surprisingly good. I was expecting a creepy little indie game that I could finish in 2 hours, but this one was well thought out and deep with interesting puzzles throughout. I give it a 9/10. My only gripes are missable achievements that the game does not telegraph in any way

I don't think it's as good as Inscryption, or There Is No Game Wrong Dimension, or Hypnospace Outlaw, but it's a fun and interesting enough time if those are the types of games you enjoy. It's the Two Cakes Rule.
