Desktop Explorer

I downloaded this expecting a sort of look through computer files mystery kind of game. Which it is. I didn't actually expect that there'd be an actual "Desktop Explorer" file we'll go through. Nevertheless, it's still really good. Now, I'm near the ending. And I didn't expect my heart to be gripped by this story. The storytelling of this game is impeccable, alongside a complex yet sensible gameplay. The puzzles and problem-solving parts were not incredibly hard. This is really amazing. This is so worth the money I spent.

Except for the last act, amazing puzzles. last act can go eat ♥♥♥♥

this was SO incredibly fun!! clever puzzles and terrific storytelling. the satisfaction i'd feel upon solving some of the more difficult puzzles truly brought me so much joy.

Really good puzzle game, couple of the puzzles pissed me off but thats just cause i couldnt find the notebook i usually use with puzzle games

Though features a lot more traditional puzzle elements, vibes-wise, this game reminds me a lot of Gone Home. That's high praise given that Gone Home was a transformative experience that fundamentally changed how I looked at video games for me. The one word of caution I would give is that you're going to want to take extensive notes while playing, especially if you play it over te course of multiple days. Some of the puzzles towards the end rely on you remembering how you solved puzzles near the beginning. This wasn't a negative for me personally, because I'm an avid note-taker, but it might be frustrating for some people, so I figured I'd mention it.

What a great game! I really enjoyed this, and recommend to anyone who likes a little bit of spooky in their puzzles. The ambiance is great, the visuals are immersive, and the whole thing feels very cohesive despite each section featuring a new profile and their favored computer softwares. For those wondering if it's too scary, it's not -- [spoiler] you're going to get the occasional jumpscare or creepy image, but everything is still cartoon or drawn. [/spoiler] TIME: Steam says it took me 13 hours to finish initially, then 2 hours to speedrun and complete achievements. If you don't forget you're playing a game for an hour while you go buy cookies at the store, you'll probably finish it a bit faster than me ;) PUZZLE DIFFICULTY: There were definitely a few things I would have totally missed if I hadn't been referencing a guide on my second play-through, and there were maybe 3-5 puzzles I had to look up on the initial play-through to get a hint, but otherwise I felt that all the puzzles were the perfect level of difficulty, ranging from simple [but NOT boring] to challenging [but NOT impossible]). SPECS: I played this perfectly fine on a Mac. Shocking, I know.
