Great game needs a part 2 to bring back the community.
Saw this game had an update after years and haven't played in forever so I gave it a try, did not expect the result. Getting into this game is absolute hell, matches can take minutes to find, and 99% of the people who still play this game have thousands of hours poured into it. If you are just buying this game as of it being on sale and are thinking about getting good, good luck with that, because the people you play against will be unrelenting and annoying as all hell. The gameplay is fun but the players can make it feel horrible. Also there is no penalty for disconnecting, so anyone can happily leave a lobby with players they don't like until they find a better match, and even then you will almost never find a lobby with unskilled players, 95% of lobbies will have at least one extremely comp player. So if you want to get into this game, good luck, you WILL need it.

very fun and unique pvp game, engaging as both as diver and shark, very unfortunate it's difficult to get a match due to the low playercount. and still better than DbD
One of my favorite games of all time so i came back to check how it was doing in 2026, still amazing fun
We forced one of our friends to buy this game, it's just that fun!
el juego es muy bueno pero esta abandonado por parte de los devs y jugadores, deberían ponerlo free to play
This game is fun, but there are issues with latency and things unfolding as indicated of sound contrast to visual. I understand that the game uses an older engine, but that gripe coupled with cosmetic availability, or lack of, and the game feels brutish to learn. Experienced plays know which items to counter which sharks, which adds an additional learning curve and it feels helpless trying to win as sharks without an experienced player to support. I do love this game, and will probably play it more, but it's rough trying to learn how to play while also not getting the chance to see the test out the mechanics while being hunted down. Inexperienced divers have a much better chance at, at the very least, stalling experienced sharks to make it to the end.
It's a dead multiplayer PVP game. At the time I first tried it, other reviews made it sound as if only a few hundred dedicated players who had mastered every aspect of the game were left so I didn't even try playing it with them and just spent some time playing with bots. As I write this, it sounds as if there aren't even any of the old pros around. If you have friends to play with and each get it for a few dollars on sale or already own it, then feel free to give it a try. That's the only way I think I can recommend Depth at this time. That being said, it was pretty entertaining to tear bots apart as a shark for a few minutes and you can play as a diver with peaceful bot controlled sharks to get your fix of jumpscares.
BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE : THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN SUNSET. Depth has been sunset and will not have any more development. Events are on a perpetual rotation cycle and server are still up as of this review. With all that said I think Depth is a very interesting arcade pvp experience. The fundamentals are solid and allow for an easy to learn gameplay loop. In the standard mode divers grab loot, guard Steve and upgrade weapons as they respawn while sharks gain new abilities to take down divers. One team wins when the other runs out of tickets or Steve is secured/destroyed respectively. It's simple as that and in a plethora of atmospheric maps that really poke that thalassophobia in all the places that make you squirm. The only downside is that full lobbies really only happen at peak times so you'll either need to bring friends or be okay playing against bots. Beyond that there's a pretty enjoyable game here that's biggest fault was being too niche to keep above water.
