About
In the 1980s, Defender of the Crown helped define a new kind of cinematic strategy game. Now it returns, rebuilt for modern platforms and remastered with an entirely new way to play.
Conquer territories, raise armies, storm castles, and shift the balance of power. It's the Defender of the Crown you remember - just sharper, cleaner, and built for today.

Retro Mode. The original Amiga classic, preserved with near-perfect authenticity and quality-of-life enhancements.
Classic Mode. Amiga classic reimagined for today. A completely new visual identity, refined mechanics, and smoother systems.
Kingdom Mode. An entirely new challenge. Procedurally generated maps, special dice mechanics, unlockable abilities, and multiple difficulty levels to keep every run unpredictable.

Everything that made the original special is intact: the ruleset, the pacing, the atmosphere. What's changed is everything around it - cleaner systems, improved balance, a modernized interface, and quality-of-life updates throughout.

Esta muy bueno pero que cueste 20 pavos.....
I mean its pretty cool. Its just that usually your memory of the game is way better than the reality of what it really was. Thanks for remaking this!
3/10 I suppose my reasons for requesting a refund are best explained as a collection of issues rather than one single problem. The tutorials do a reasonable job of explaining what the various options and features are, but they largely fail to explain how the core game mechanics actually work in practice. For example, there is little to no useful instruction on how to properly use the catapult, how jousting works, how soldiers function, or how the different soldier types affect your performance in battle. The same problem extends to combat itself. Tactics seem to have little apparent effect, and without understanding how the available options actually influence the outcome of battles, it often feels like I'm simply guessing at what I'm supposed to do. These are not minor features. They are fundamental mechanics of the game, and without a clear explanation of how to use them or how they affect gameplay, it becomes very difficult to meaningfully engage with the game beyond trial and error. Bonus misleading trailer information: The jousting in the trailer shows what equates to a targeting recital with score values. This did not exist in game for me.

I played the original when it came out and this was an awesome way to reexperience it in 2026. The Retro mode is faithful to the original, and the new modes are amazing. The swordplay in Classic mode reminds me of Prince of Persia. At such a low price this is a easy purchase!
I stand before you , King of England . I triumphed over those who oppose me and resuced a fair maiden as well. Huzzah !!! This game will never again leave me !!!! Well.... my cartridge for SNES is hiding somewhere in my house , but ,what matters is play the other two new ways to play .
Excellent... Nice piece of gaming history. Enjoying the past and new upgrades.
The updated graphics definitely maintain the magic of the original, but look so much nicer. Beautiful lighting, shadows, mist, etc. As far as gameplay, it's still a little frantic and confusing, but seems solid enough. I like the relatively lightweight nature of it, and how simple the control scheme is. It plays perfectly on the Stream Controller on the Steam Machine. The controller adapts nicely to it. No problems. It you are an Amiga/Cinemaware fan like me, you should be able to appreciate this updated classic.
