SSI's Sword of Aragon was one of the earliest precursors to the 4x genre and is widely regarded as one of the best 4X games ever made. Combining deep RPG character progression, military units, resource management, and a fun story, Sword of Aragon is a MUST have for any fan of the 4x genre!

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 26 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Sword of Aragon is an excellent strategy game and can be seen as a very early prototype for the fantasy 4X genre, with beautifully designed gameplay. This isn't a simple game but it's not overly complex either, yet that relative simplicity translates into deep and replayable fun, and has stood the test of time. Gameplay is a nice balance between exploration of the map, engaging in combat with enemy armies and building an economy strong enough to muster the forces necessary to beat the game. The RPG systems are very much of their time, and so if you're familiar with original D&D inspired games, you'll pick this up quickly. The graphics are simple but work nicely to show what's happening in-game, and as with all DOS era games I strongly advise using a CRT filter to really get the most out of the graphics. Of course, don't go into this expecting the same kind of detail you'd find in a modern game, but this is an excellent game. Get a CRT filter on it for the best experience, and go kill some orcs!
My literally childhood was consumed by this game. One of the greats, up there with OG CIV, Starflight 2, Reach for the Stars, OG Might and Magic etc. For this price, you would be insane not to want to relive those childhood memories. The game still holds up VERY well considering how old it is. I have yet to find a single bug, an its a wonderful time for the cost of the product. I hope at some point they can get the funds to remaster/release another in the series. Pick it up, even if its just for the vibes. !

Originally released 1989, this game was way ahead of its time with deep role playing as well as hard-to-master both strategical and tactical elements. As the Duke of Aladda its up to you to unite the realm but the threat from the eastern realm aswell as the surronding monsters will make it more than a challenge.
