About
In the 1980s, Defender of the Crown helped define a new kind of cinematic strategy game. Now it returns, rebuilt for modern platforms and remastered with an entirely new way to play.
Conquer territories, raise armies, storm castles, and shift the balance of power. It's the Defender of the Crown you remember - just sharper, cleaner, and built for today.

Retro Mode. The original Amiga classic, preserved with near-perfect authenticity and quality-of-life enhancements.
Classic Mode. Amiga classic reimagined for today. A completely new visual identity, refined mechanics, and smoother systems.
Kingdom Mode. An entirely new challenge. Procedurally generated maps, special dice mechanics, unlockable abilities, and multiple difficulty levels to keep every run unpredictable.

Everything that made the original special is intact: the ruleset, the pacing, the atmosphere. What's changed is everything around it - cleaner systems, improved balance, a modernized interface, and quality-of-life updates throughout.

Klasika z Amigy. Original znam nazpamet, tuhle novinku budu hrat rad. Zatim me to bavi i rozsireni hry
Never played the original when it came out, but I could imagine that this is a fantastic remake because it is so well done. Not only do you get the remake, you can play the original as well. And if you get bored of it, why not try the roguelike mode? For 20 euros, it is well worth it

Worth every penny for nostalgia alone. :)
TheA1200 mit Defender of the Crown 1 & 2 drauf sicherlich mehr.
Enjoyable nostalgia with some new mixed in.
It's a terrible and absolute crap. I want my money back.
I honestly don't understand the complaint that “the gameplay hasn't changed since the '80s.” That's like complaining that Pac-Man still involves eating pellets and avoiding ghosts. Yes. That's the point. This is a remaster, not a completely different game wearing the name of a classic. The original gameplay is still there, but the presentation has been improved considerably, making the experience much more pleasant on modern systems. If you played this in the '80s and expected a completely redesigned 2026 strategy game, then yes, you're going to be disappointed. But that's not really a flaw of the remaster, it's simply not the game you were looking for. For everyone else, this is a chance to experience a classic without pretending that everything made decades ago needs to be redesigned beyond recognition to be worth playing. And if it is not clear, If you want a brand-new game, buy a brand-new game. If you want Defenders of the Crown, this is Defenders of the Crown.
Very happy to see this game on Steam, I played it on Nintendo. Can we get some more Retro revivals? Legends of Valour maybe? Runs clean on Bazzite Linux as well. Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI (model PHN16S-71) — Intel Meteor Lake CPU with an NVIDIA RTX 5070 laptop
