About

you got yourself an apartment, and secured a temp data entry job- just to keep you afloat till something better comes along. YOUR OFFICIAL TITLE IS A DATA CONVERSION OPERATOR, but you're really more like a warm body who types up all the junk computers still can't read.

you go to work & process the images displayed on your terminal, and type up whatever random text is in front of you. Whatever can be made out, that is.
Sometimes the mail you receive is a little strange- letters and lost mail, some mangled and twisted, that have travelled from place to place with nowhere else to go.
Sometimes, it feels like it's talking to you directly through the screen...

USE YOUR KEYBOARD to type in various prompts, and attempt to decipher damaged images
MULTIPLE ENDINGS & buried secrets to uncover
NO TWO PLAYTHROUGHS are exactly the same (Estimated playtime: 120min per run)
A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF MAIL to voyeur through, and catch glimpses into other lives
ATMOSPHERIC HORROR MOOD with rich sound designed to crawl under your skin
Key re-binding is available, but a keyboard with Function Keys and Control Keys (Insert, Page Up/Page Down) is strongly recommended.

I don't know exactly what happened but i think i loved it
Saying this as a compliments. This game reads like one of those creepypastas you find on Nosleep about a guy working some job after moving away from home. Only to find out the horrible truth or lose his mind, or both. First playthrough I got the Possession ending. And this was certainly one of the best horror game experiences I've had. Mainly because it does the horror aspect very well, it hints and doubles down on certain aspects and atmosphere. Awesome game that felt way less linear than your average game of this genre, will defo give it another playthrough.
Where to begin with this review? I went into this game having no idea what to expect. And was pleasantly surprised. I found myself really engrossed in the story in a way that not many games have made me feel. And knowing I only saw one possibility is super intriguing to me. I loved how the game got us into its loop so effortlessly. I don't want to give anything away because I really do think this is a brilliant game with so much heart and creativity. And a spooky vibe to boot. Amazing game. Easy recommendation!

i think this game has SO much potential, i just am not sure it clicked with me in the way i expected it to. i love when horror is mashed together with other genres, and so typing horror is awesome... that being said i dont really like the one-save-per-run system, i find it really impacted my gameplay. I understand the point of it and respect the choice but just as a warning; YOU CAN ONLY SAVE ONCE IN A RUN (with each run taking ~2 hours). some of the horror elements were a little overplayed but the aesthetics were really nice, the prose was well done and the soundtrack was stellar. id probably give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10 :-)
Creepy vibes with a decent in to madness feel that pulls a lot of influece from the Beetleguese hell and hell from Preacher imo. could have given it a good review easily. Unfornunatly have to give this a negative review as least twice it builds up to super creepy point and then hits you with a long unpausable stretch where things happen. In both cases the unpausable point started like 30 secs before i needed to pause so I missed out on important things happening in the game game vibes wise. Thats just really bad game design imo. I get that the developer was tying to make you feel "locked in" but you've to respect that your players have lives.
I really enjoyed the Dead Letter Department. It took a simple concept - transcribe letters that a computer can’t read - and made a brilliantly tense and dark horror game. It oozes a sinister atmosphere, and for that I can’t help but love it. I’ve only got one ending so far, and I think I will be coming back to get more, but I already love this weird little game, and I know there are tons of endings and probably a lot of replayability given the brilliant gameplay loop.
that game is beautifully made. Such an atmospheric horror game is just what i needed. Spoilers ahead: Only thing that bothered me: i wanted to get fired on my first playthrough, see if that's an option by sending letter to wrong adresses, but it is only possible if you send them to yourself all the time apparently, so that was strange in my opinion. I quit my first runthrough half-way through because of that because i was bored for not getting any interaction for that and still thought to myself: what if i did sth. wrong.
An odd little game. Enjoyable. Give it a whirl.
