Не смогли смириться с поражением сиквела. И куда разрабов это привело? Снова в первую часть.
Purchasing this to signal that you still have an audience in your Darkest Dungeon 1 fans. If additional DLC or a subsequent game that captures the mechanical excellence of the first one follows, I will be there.

There are two kinds of people reading this review: - Folks who already got this DLC because, like me, they are die hard Darkest Dungeon fans and absolutely love this game. - Folks who like the game alright or are coming into it unsure if it's really for them. The tough thing about this DLC package is that, for the first group - it's the tops! That's why day 1 folks were coming back from playing around with the Duelist and Runaway with big thumbs up! But... for the other group... what do we say? It's really the kind of experience where if you were ready to spring on this DLC day 1 because, like me, you were tracking it and waiting - it's worth it on principal alone: a little more Darkest Dungeon!!! If you aren't like that though - what does the DLC have to offer? Two OK classes. Ah. The new burn mechanic and augment system with the runaway is novel - the duelist is fun to plink forward and back across your lines (similar to the Jester in that regard) but - and this is a big but - you really REALLY do not need to open your wallet for this... at all. If you're coming into this game fresh and are still finding out if it's gamer crack for you or not - this DLC isn't going to revolutionize your experience or give you more depth to play around with. There are countless mods on Steam to add classes created by the community - and some of them have become staples of my playthroughs and personal favorites. These characters are about on-par with what you might find at the higher end of the community workshop characters, which is why folks like me are A OK with dishing out the extra cash to grab em... but also why newcomers who haven't gotten down the line of starting to mod their game and go for a second or third playthrough probably won't get any additional fun from actually buying this thing. TLDR: If you're a huge fan of Darkest Dungeon - YIPPIE! $7 for some new districts and premium modded characters! If you're reading reviews because you want to know if this is a good DLC to pick up with this "Darkest Dungeon" game and have no idea what districts or modded characters are - get The Color Of Madness or another DLC instead. This is DLC for the ravenous fans - you'll have a lot more fun if you hold off until you fall in love with the game like the rest of us here.
I'm glad they're still updating the game but this just isn't it. The new classes are very poorly balanced. The runaway feels like a staight-up modded class with how strong she is. Her applying burn with 100% probability is insane, I beat my all time high in the endless mode with the runaway on the first try. You'd expect them to add some new tough enemies to compensate for how strong the new classes are, but there are none in this dlc. The runaway and the duelist ruin the entire preparation part of the game, where some classes are stronger in some areas while weaker in others. These two are so strong it is quite literally irrational to not have them in your party regardless of where you're going. The Fire's Edge is not much cheaper than the Crimsot Court, yet all it adds is two classes (badly made at that) and a few trinkets. Unfortunately, this looks too much like a cash grab.
It's fun, but sort of a cash grab. At least the shield breaker came with some new content (the snakes). Enemies don't interact with the fire mechanic at all. They don't have fire resistances and there are no new enemies that wield fire. What's the point? We have new tools, but nothing new to use them on.
- А давай спустя годы, выдернем пару ничем не обоснованных модов из мастерской на персонажей, да продадим за несколько долларов. - Давай, только, может, отображение корректное допилим? - Не, лень, да и так схавают.
This DLC features negative achievements: - Die to burn (as far as i can tell so far it's only aplicable by sirening the new DLC character) - Use Burn on the Hag's Cauldron This DLC features grinding achievements: - Trigger trinkets 1000 times (only dlc trinkets have this, and usually 5-10 as far as I can tell) This DLC features HEAVY RNG achievement: - Duelist reposte 5 times without being hit (Depends on enemies hitting only the duelist, and the dodge triggering 5 times, despite dodge failing even for huge values, And the duelist MUST riposte, AND not miss... and not kill all the enemies with the riposte damage.... good luck. what an Idiotic achievement) The new characters seem a bit OP to me. Achievements work with radiant mode and workshop mods so feel free to make the game super easy for these 6. This game didn't have very smart achievements to begin with but it seems like these are just a big middle finger. I'll see if I change my mind but for now, Not worth it.
more expensive than expansions for basically no content while locking functionality mods will use behind it. scummy behavior.
I really, really hope Runaway's going to get balanced soon because good lord... Burn as an unresisted DoT (barring 2 notable boss encounter exceptions) that is the fastest to build in the game, the easiest to spread in the game (with it also spreading on death naturally), and that provides Runaway with +25% bonus damage on her Backdraft *per Burn stack* on the target. Sure, it deals damage after enemies' turns and halves after each proc... but since stuns are already one of the best tools in the game, that first weakness is pretty much removed and burn is so easy to stack that halving it doesn't matter. Not to mention she just has some of the best moves in the game with no compensation for it really. Take a look at Grave Robber— a character with a pretty similar stat spread to Runaway— and her 'Shadow Fade' ability: a rank 1/2 Stealth that buffs her damage and crit for 1 turn after using it and moves her back 2 ranks, so you alternate this with her highly damaging, high crit Lunge that moves her forward 2. Solid dancer combo that makes her stealthed 50% of the time and buffs her dodge a good amount. Runaway has a similar move that is an *all* rank Stealth (said stealth is disabled if she moves into rank 1/2) that moves her back 2 and provides her with *3* rounds of stealth after using it. Those 3 rounds also come with *+50% burn* stacks on application, AND a self-heal which is 5 HP per round at max level. This ability also has no limits on its use. Her best attacks cannot be used in rank 4 so it seemed that they anticipated this being a problematic loop... but if you just run 2 Runaways in rank 3/4, this is no issue: one is a Burn bot (which also applies a debuff that makes the Burn halving into a -25%), the other presses Backdraft, and you have two party members that are untargetable, self-healing, and have the best damage in the game. It's insane how overtuned this character is, she really is still a modded character at heart.
