Dark Scavenger is a weird little game in which you play through text adventures and JRPG-style battles. It has its own unusual style and setting, with all kinds of alien creatures and weird items. While i really liked it at first it gets progressively more annoying to find the right type of item (size/kind/type) in your inventory. Some symbols or colour-coding would've helped a lot. The balance is also rather wonky, i would've liked a more forgiving difficulty setting. It also just a tad too random for my taste. Still, its originality is to be praised. I can't think of any other game where your weapon deals more damage to people with their mouth wide open or people standing on one leg.
This was such a pleasant unexpected surprise. Absolutely loved the game, incredibly captivating story and unique gameplay. Point and click meets rpg. Totally recommend it!

really fun, it is a point and click game, so if you are not a fan of point and click this game may not be for you, however the story is fun, and their are a lot of events, their are a lot of insane game breaking choices, you can choose to have a hord of weapons, a huge army of allys and or a insane amount of hilarious and fun zany items that make this game have a personality of its own if you like games where you discover the truth and nothing is given to you, and you make or break your play through with your own two hands, well this is the game for you. their are 3 compaions that will help you throught your treck into another world, not only are they companions you can call on in battle they are also the crafters that will be making this journy possible by taking the items you find through world events and crafting into one of three veriants, weapon item companion and you use these items to progress through the adventure, it ends up being your choice how to craft your playthrough, i had fun mixing up items weapons and allys in order to face every situation the only complaint i have about this game is that when you start getting twords the end you have so many items that its hard to find the one your looking for half the time, however this game is a lot of fun and i plan on playing through the game again just to see what else i could have had to play with for weapons items and allys

Bizarre space point n click RPG that gives vibes of an upgrades 00s Flash game. Love it to bits, is a joy for it's run time and well worth it if you are a fan of weird indie RPGs. Top notch Steam Deck fodder.
Great little RPG, very surpsrising that it hasn't spawned a speedrunning community with all the opportunities for minmaxing. Definitely a product of its time, but in a charming way. Highly recommended, especially for the price!
I Jumped into #DarkScavenger a weird point and click adventure game, not unlike #DnD and honestly i loved it https://t.co/hZfcv6b8rH
This is a very unique game that combines RPG, interactive fiction, and adventure game elements. It feels like a digital version of one of those gamebooks (i.e. Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf, etc.) The setting is cynical and violent, but more campy than dark. There are a lot of cool touches, including hundreds of weapons, items, and allies to collect, each with their own effects and descriptions.
This game is okay. Dark Scavenger doesn’t really stand out that much, but it’s not bad either. The dialogue was somewhat fun and witty, though. It’s a shame that the developer has shut down.
Dark Scavenger is a unique choose-your-own-adventure game with turn-based RPG combat. You are saved from space by a crew of scavengers who promptly send you down to a nearby planet to find them some fuel. As you explore you are presented with lots of mini story events which give you decisions to make (e.g. you meet someone, do you act friendly or hostile?). Through these events, you slowly unravel the mysteries of the planet as well as accumulate lots of junk that your scavenger friends can turn into useful weapons and items for you. Pros:

A light-hearted tone with a mix of silliness and dark/dry humour
Despite the quirky tone of the game, it has a genuinely interesting plot with a satisfying ending
Combat is unique and fun - there are tonnes of items you can make and they all work in weird ways (e.g.an item that stuns enemies which have exactly two legs, or an item that does a lot of damage but only if you are fighting outdoors).
Good difficulty level - pretty much every boss felt hard but not frustrating. Your items can only be used a certain number of times so you can't just spam your best stuff - you have to make smart combos.
Character designs are really interesting and detailed with a 90s sci-fi feel
Cons:

The game feels very low budget - the UI is ugly, sound effects are basic and there are no animations. The maps are low quality and objects look poorly copy & pasted over the backgrounds.
Choices can feel a little arbitrary sometimes. You don't know what items will do until after you craft them so you might end up with something that feels lacklustre. I ended the game with a couple of items that I didn't even figure out how to use. The game sometimes asks you for certain types of items (something metal, something with the fire element etc) and you may simply not have one because how were you to know that you would need it? Items have limited uses which refresh each chapter but you don't know how long a chapter will be. I often ended up finishing the chapter with some of my best items unused because I didn't know whether I would need them or not. These issues don't really ruin the fun - they are minor annoyances.
