Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.57/day in the week to Aug 14 → 8.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Cultist Simulator is a game of apocalypse and yearning from Alexis Kennedy, creator of Fallen London and Sunless Sea. Play as a seeker after unholy mysteries, in a 1920s-themed setting of hidden gods and secret histories. Perhaps you're looking for knowledge, or power, or beauty, or revenge. Perhaps you just want the colours beneath the skin of the world.
In this roguelike narrative card game, what you find may transform you forever. Every choice you make, from moment to moment, doesn't just advance the narrative - it also shapes it.
Become a scholar of the unseen arts. Search your dreams for sanity-twisting rituals. Craft tools and summon spirits. Indoctrinate innocents. Seize your place as the herald of a new age.

In this 20-40 hour game, you'll:
Combine cards to tell your own story in a rich, Lovecraftian world of ambition, appetite and abomination. Corrupt your friends. Consume your enemies. There is never only one history.
Found a cult, dedicated to the Red Grail, or the Witch-and-Sister, or the Forge of Days. Recruit Believers and promote them to Disciples to serve as burglars, researchers, cat's-paws. Use your disciples to keep you fed - or feed on your disciples.
Unravel arcane, unacknowledged mysteries. Translate grimoires and glean their lore. Locate and pillage the Star Shattered Fane. Penetrate the realm of the Hours, and win a place in their service. Perhaps - if you are very cunning - you may even glimpse the Mansus.
Outwit rivals, investigators and the increasingly suspicious Authorities. Your own altered Appetites may force you to act abominably, but your Cause must not be stopped.
Transcend death with a story-driven legacy system. Perhaps your inheritors will complete the Rite of the Crucible Soul. Perhaps they'll find peace in a pleasing career. Perhaps they'll bring the Dawn.

Reviews
Let me start by saying that I recognize that Cultist Simulator won't be for everyone. It is often baffling and incomprehensible - but this is at the heart of its charm and its appeal. It's a brave design decision to drop players into a game with very little in the way of a tutorial and to simply expect players to figure it out on their own. Despite bearing very little superficial resemblance to it, the only other game that comes to mind for me is Myst - and while there were many efforts to recapture the lightning in a bottle that was Myst and Riven, Cultist Simulator is the first game that made me FEEL the way those titles did. As far as gameplay goes, I won't say much in this review - the joy of the game is in discovering your own breakthroughs after pounding your head against the wall and losing several runs without understanding what you did wrong or how you could have prevented it. If you have the patience and curiosity to delve ever-deeper, understanding will slowly dawn. Obviously anyone that buys a single-player game can play it however they want, but I would strongly discourage the use of any online guides with ONE exception - if you feel you absolutely need a little bit of guidance, this YouTube Beginner's Guide by systemchalk is excellent: https://youtu.be/1t-wEfv536w?si=l4CemcJnRIoui1tu I already had a couple of successful runs under my belt when I found the above Beginner's Guide, after a friend expressed frustration with trying to break into the game, and it's the most information I would possibly suggest that any new player receive. I recommend the game highly for anyone that values patience and experimentation and is not easily frustrated. I found it a deeply rewarding experience and look forward to exploring its mysteries further.

REVISION: After more than 30 hours, I have finally won my first game. But did my opinions change about it? Not really. The game somehow got its claws in me, and I could not stop playing it. But that does not excuse many of its shortcomings. If you are looking to play this game, feel free to play blind up until you have a solid grasp of the basics, and then do not be afraid to wiki things. Without looking up what and how you need to win, you'll be left in the dark, and will likely DNF. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The game is an overcomplicated mess of moving timers, where progress is always brought on by tedious, luck-based strategies. I spent hours grinding away at the end game trying to get lucky, and lost because I accidentally clicked the wrong card, ending my multiple day lasting session. Although the lore and style might be enjoyable, the game mechanics are the definition of time wasters, with no tutorials, obtuse hints, and an annoying interfaces that requires YOU to put in the work that the devs should have from the get go. If you prefer this writing but want something much, much better, go and play the Sunless games. Your time is much better spent elsewhere.
I played this game while depersonalizing the ♥♥♥♥ out from medication withdrawl. I truly felt like some character from Lovecraftian story going insane and losing my humanity as I gave into depravity and madness. 9/10
I'm all for a game trying to let you discover mechanics, but they won't even tell you what you are trying to do, what your goal/s are, what ANYTHING IS. Just... such a horrifically bad time. As you can see, I've given it a good 4 hours, and I just don't understand why "Confusion: The Game (tm)" is a good time for anyone. That's not to mention the way the cards will just keep popping on-top of each other, or run off the side of the board, or anything. God forbid you don't have an ultrawide and are not playing in full screen, I guess. It's sad because I am sure this does click with many people. Don't get this if you like to know either A) how to play the game, or B) know how to win the game.
This is a good game, dragged down by its devs comparison to roguelikes when it simply isn't one or similar to one by any logical metric. It doesn't play like a roguelike, it has scant few gameplay elements in common with the genre and is much more comparable to something like a lovecraftian "Candybox" or "Kittensgame" than a "roguelike." If you're looking for anything roguelike, you're after something wildly different to Cultist Simulator. What Cultist Simulator IS, is a shining example of an incremental expansion game or "incremental game." It would be great if developers actually labelled things as they are rather than jumping on the buzzword bandwagon.
