I'll say that this isn't a terrible game. Might be worth it on a sale. But my main issue with the game is it forgets what makes a pinball game fun, interesting tables with lots of things to hit and events to trigger. This game is just the same thing over and over. 8 eyeballs at the top to destroy, one giant eyeball spawns after you destroy those. I was so disappointed when I finally beat table one and table two was the same thing, except surrounded in bone. Table one had quickly become so boring that I almost refunded this before reaching table two. I was immensely disappointed when I finally got there and table two was mostly just the same. Make the tables more interesting and diverse and you might have something here, but as of now I'd say it just barely justifies the low price.
I played the demo quite a bit and have been looking forward to the release of this game for a while. While it doesn't have the depth and complexity of other roguelikes, I find it's my go to game for when I want something that's low effort and fun. I know the dev reads the reviews, so here are some of my thoughts on the game as it stands right now. Good: - Game feel is great. The noises, the physics (most of the time) both feel very crunchy and satisfying. - I really like the new glyphs added, they're fun and not too complicated. Especially the nudging related ones. Bad: - Recurring bug with the bonus table where the paddles are up in the air so I can't hit the ball and lose it immediately. Can ruin some runs. - New songs in the soundtrack don't fit the vibe of the ones in the demo. I love the demo songs (the upbeat ones), so it's kind of disappointing when the more boring ones come on. I'd rather just listen to the good ones on repeat. This is surprisingly a really big one for me, but it's a testament to how great some of the songs are. - The second table feels clunky, as some other people have said. I might edit my review for more specifics later since I don't remember exactly why. - Not a big fan of the curse system, as it tends to be more frustrating than interesting. I think giving the boss curse effects would be better (like balatro or slay the spire). I think the curse choosing screen could be replaced with one telling you what the boss effect will be so you can prepare. - For any glyphs that give you a stat over time (ex. earn 5 score per nudge), please show how much in total the glyph has given you in the description!! More info is always better Look, I know there's a lot more in the bad category than good, but I'm giving it a positive review so clearly I enjoy this game a lot and want it to be as good as possible. I think the biggest reason for the negative reviews is that people are expecting something with the same level of depth as the more popular roguelikes. This game stands out because the actual moment-to-moment gameplay feels great, even if the strategic depth might not be comparable.
This game is fairly addictive and fun, I've never played pin ball but this game has made me quite interested in it. there are a few bugs in the bonus rooms where your ball will go through your flippers or the flippers wont appear at all, this is one of the few bugs I've noticed. Overall the game is very well designed and it just released a couple days ago. I'm very excited to see What's to come to this game. bugs: -third stage sometimes boss wont spawn when all bumpers are gone and slo mo will last a long time happens frequently -third stage ball can get stuck between the loop de loop and pipe
this is the pinball roguelite you've been waiting for
