About
The Culdcept series has captivated players worldwide. Now, the original masterpiece returns, enhanced with convenient new features.
Build your deck from over 300 types of cards and witness the dawn of a new battle among Cepter.
On the continent of Bablashca, where the chief god Culdra once clashed with the neutral god Baltias, humanity—Culdra’s final creation—had long flourished.
However, the world fell into chaos when stone tablets discovered across the land were revealed to be fragments of "Culdcept"—the Book of Creation and Destruction.
Driven by the mythical prophecy that "he who commands the Culdcept shall gain infinite power," Cepter began to fight one another over the scattered fragments.
As the ravages of war spread, a lone youth finally rises and sets out on a long, epic journey.
Players become "Cepter" who wield cards, heading into battle with a self-constructed 50-card "Book" (deck).
Move across the map guided by the roll of the dice and summon creatures using cards on the spaces where you land. Any land where you place a creature becomes your territory.
By using Spell Cards, you can manipulate dice rolls, support your creatures, or sabotage your rivals.
The first Cepter to collect the target amount of Magic Power and return to the Castle (the starting point) is declared the winner.
After a match, you will receive a random set of cards based on your ranking. Incorporate these new cards into your Book and refine your tactics for the next battle.
When you land on another player's territory, you must pay Magic Power as a toll. However, by summoning a creature and winning a battle, you can claim that territory as your own.
In battle, the key to victory lies not only in a creature's stats and special abilities but also in Item Card effects and support bonuses from the land or allies.
Seize territories and increase your Magic Power to gain the upper hand in the game.
【Rewind】Rewind the game to any point someone passed a Checkpoint at a Fort or the Castle.

Game works well, the extra stuff is helpful especcially the extra card on rewards option. Only problem i has is minor and recording for some reason mutes on steam (all system sounds seems to bypass this but weird) The game is good hope we get more of the old culdcepts to return the lord and savior CORNFOLK

I grew up playing a different Culdcept and when I found out this one was being ported I had buy it. It is a Port so nothing flashy or fancy added. I've read other reviews about freezes but ive yet to have any in my 12 hours so far. The game has a fun learning curve. If you enjoy this kind of game Id give it a try. I was a little worried going in since it was a older port game but it runs great. a Controller is needed, but having one for other games this was not a problem.
Terrible port. It boots but it doesn't reads steam input and the default controller configuration doesn't seems to work. I can't get past the startup screen since this game doesn't allow keyboard+mouse input.
Look closely, this is Culdcept The First not Culdcept Begins. Thought I was buying the latter, which as of this writing is still listed as set to release in Q4 of 2026. I feel a bit hoodwinked, but that’s my fault.
I'll keep this short and simple. As you might know, Culdcept feels like a hybrid version between Monopoly and Magic the Gathering. You roll the dice, take over land by placing your monsters on the tiles, and you try to accumulate enough points by having people land on your tiles and pay you a toll (in mana) and/or by accumulating mana by completing laps around the various maps. The toll and the "lap points" you get depend mostly on the level of the land you control, which you increase by spending mana (also necessary for summoning the monsters, using items in combat and casting spells outside of it). Your mana and the value of your "assets" are counted together to tally up your score, and if you end a lap meeting or exceeding the target score, you win. While the combat is simple and straighforward, and the dice rolls can make or break your run, there are a lot of levers to pull in order to strategize and win (spells that fix the dice rolls, ways to unsummon enemy monsters without a battle, and many many more small nudges you can give the systems to gain an advantage). Thankfully, the AI is also not TOO bright, so even when it's given an advantage you can still outmanuever it and come out on top, most of the times. There is a lot of randomness, however, which might be annoying to some. Many reviews have mentioned having issues like freezing, but thankfully I experienced none of that (make sure to check if things are fine for on your platform of choice during the refund period, just in case). As far as presentation goes, the game is old, but well-done for its time, both for the visuals and the audio. The story feels a bit janky, but it's not very present either (the quips from your adversaries during combat are a bit repetitive and annoying in the long run, but not a deal-breaker). The emulation adds some basic features, plus some unique ones (like being able to see a snapshot of your enemies' hands on the side, outside the playing field). It doesn't feel perfect by any means, but it gets the job done and doesn't impede the core experience. I am happy I got to play the game, as I always was curious about it ever since buying the manga several years ago. It's an odd, but surprisingly enjoyable game, if you like this type of board-game adjacent experience, despite the flaws.
