A poignant narrative-driven game about rejection, belonging and the meaning of home. It follows the story of a newly adopted shelter cat whose space in the home is taken by a copycat. Bring the tissues.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.43/day in the week to Aug 7 → 8.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
⚠️ Copycat touches on sensitive topics such as family trauma, abandonment, and other emotional complexities. If you are going through difficult times, remember that you are not alone. Seek support from friends, family, or a professional. Take care of yourself and play at your own pace.
Copycat is a narrative-driven indie game about a pet who learns to deal with abandonment, and a human forced to surrender. Together, two souls go on a journey to discover the meaning of family and home. The game's colourful visuals delight the senses while exploring dark thematic depths. Journey on an emotional rollercoaster that pulls at the heartstrings and reminds you how it feels to be left behind. 🐾
We follow the tale of Dawn, a sceptical shelter cat who would much rather be in the wild than be readopted again. Dawn actually believes she is a wild cat. And plans on escaping as soon as she gets the chance.
Dawn has second thoughts when she meets new owner Olive, a lonely older Aussie mourning the disappearance of her beloved furry companion. Together Dawn and Olive develop an intimate friendship, as two broken hearts mend one another and learn to beat as one. ❤️
Everything changes when Olive falls ill, and a stray copycat steals Dawn’s place in the home—forcing Dawn onto the streets.
Wander alleyways, fences and rooftops as you learn about the true meaning of home. The reflective pacing of the game allows you the opportunity to indulge in the emotions of love, loneliness and letting go as you progress throughout the story.
Copycat is fully voice acted, featuring hours of dialogue and a talented voice cast. Original music score by Daniel Bunting.

Look, I know its a new developers first game and they had an important message to share, but after playing through- I can honestly say I have never seen a game sabotage their own message harder than this. Infuriating ending. I feel this game is an IQ / EQ test and I am absolutely flabbergasted at a lot of the positive reviews. I get that it had emotional moments that tug at the heart, but this game may as well be titled "The Passion of the Cats" with the emotional drama, forced human perspective and weirdly redundant micro messages, and then to just... throw it all away at the end the way they did (outside of the under stimulating gameplay/ this is one of those "could have been more of an interactive story/ less gameplay sort of things) and it would have been better. Every interaction felt slow. Narration is written at a 7th grade level and felt repetitive and just. again. Ending is painful. Emotional parts are interrupted by jarring music changes, weird voice acting and reading and the own writers sabotage.
And can we also talk about how at one point the daughter is straight up like "Imma smother my mother". Ma'am. She wasnt on her death bed, that part had no freaking point outside of throwing more drama into the story. Olive abandoned the cat multiple times. Mae attempted to essentially kill every other character even her own mother.
The story is a mess. The game isn't worth the full price, and I had the assumption that more of the sales were going to actual charity. If you do the math at even the reviews posted assuming people didn't even pay full price, they sure made a lot of cash off a disparaging message showing that " actually, yeah. These pets were expendable and all is forgiven somehow" feels like a spit in the face a bit. Anyway, interpret it as you want. Some may find this game heartwarming but myself and a friend played it together and after we beat it, we were both pretty upset and felt like this game literally cannibalized its own message for profit, and for the sake of needless suffering and drama, but did it pretty poorly where those important emotional messages never got to land on their feet. Enjoy the complete lack of choices too. May as well not even add them. I hope the developers really reconsider the feedback from some of the reviews and put a bit more thoughtful work into writing, and less into gimmicks. I really, really wanted to like this game. I had a hard time ignoring the massive red flags.

Эмпатичным к животным людям будет тяжело играть в эту игру, но точно стоит. Поводов для слёз - 10/10. Разочарование в людях 11/10.
Loved it!
honestly the ending ruined it for me, your only choice is to let the cat die or go live with the stupid old lady who left you to die in the first place. The message should have been irresponsible owners should not have pets, not whatever that confusing "home is where you are needed" thing. A good ending would have been, old lady gets both cats taken away from her and they find a loving forever home with someone who can actually care for them properly. The old lady acted like she never had a cat before too, which made no sense since she was using you to replace her cat. No toys, no posts, nothing? Was very odd to me. I just hated all the humans in this game and felt sorry for the poor kitty. The story was kinda ass.
At its core, this is a narratively driven game where you go around investigating your environment and playing a few minigames to advance the story. But there’s a large amount of dissonance between the player and the several narrators of the story, where you don’t really feel like you get a clear choice in the way things progress. The game does have choices here or there, but overall the system forces you to do things to progress, things you may not actually want to do yourself. Maybe I don’t want to knock over the tea and soup, or spill the giant paint cans and make a huge mess (Also, when do artists use the big cans of house paint to do their canvas painting?). The game and story railroad you into situations you don’t want to be in. The cat you play as has her own agenda, as does the “wildcat documentary” narrator that often comes on, mostly to chide you as you play minigames (of which it doesn’t seem to matter how well you do, you still get insulted if you do well, making the situation frustrating in terms of what feedback you should pay attention to). After less than an hour of listening to the grating documentary narrator, I longed for the ability to outright mute them, they never stop being a miserable ass. It would have been better to just have the silent narration from the cat instead. Not that the little quicktime games are good either. They’re ultimately jank, won’t register key inputs if you put them in fast enough, and later ones are terribly designed to the point they feel like a bad afterthought. They feel more designed for Facebook grandmothers or mobile phone addicts. The story itself is interesting. It’s pretty good, and emotional. But the medium they put it in is flawed, and it often provokes you in awful ways. Some of the events are just, incredibly strange if not downright abrasive. It only adds to the overall inconsistent feeling the game and plot take. Things happen I cannot reveal without spoiling the game, but they absolutely suck and are terrible, infuriating events. The graphics aren’t great either. And their music choice just gets boring after awhile. The game promised an evocative journey, but falls short of delivering. Between bad minigames, an awful narrator, and disgusting plot directions, this has been an exasperating experience. Ultimately this is more an example of how not to make a game, and more importantly, how not to treat animals. Also Mae is a stupid ugly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that makes me hate the game more, despite her plot relevance.
Such a sweet game! Would definitely recommend it! I love being a cat. Even though i caused as much chaos as possible being a cat :D
I really quite disliked the direction the story took, I know it was intended to be heartfelt but it just felt it did not acknowledge the horribleness of what had happened in the story, and made it seem like abandoning animals is "okay" if you're going through hard things and the decision is hard for you. Overall, I'm entirely puzzled by what they were intending for the message of the game to be, and I found myself very disappointed I had spent my time on the game in the end. I hate to leave a bad review for a smallish game that is benefitting charity, but it might be really tough for most animal lovers to sit through.
