Contagion isn't your average Zombie Shooter but instead takes a more realistic and different approach to the popular genre with unique characters, environments, weapons, items, and a built in system that makes every round completely unpredictable with resources, objectives, and paths ever changing.

underrated zombie game
I love zombie games, and Contagion is one of them. I got into it because of No More Room in Hell 1 & 2, and it delivers that same tense, co-op survival experience. If you like NMRiH, you’ll enjoy this! 👍 Recommended!

O jogo é sensacional e um ponto positivo é que ele lembra LEFT FOR DEAD. Ponto negativo é que nao consigo jogar com mais de a amigo online pois sempre que entram 3, 1 fica de fora e da erro de conexao.
because my dad and i can never beat a single map
BOREDOM
It’s neither L4D2 in terms of action nor Resident Evil in terms of survival horror. Honestly, I have a hard time saying what exactly the developer wanted to create or show with this game. The entire gameplay boils down to simply wandering around a large, empty map in search of “keys,” while occasionally killing a few zombies. That’s literally it. There’s nothing to do here. The maps are empty and lifeless. There’s no interactivity or any kind of events happening. As for the zombies, there are two types: regular and armored – and they have a weird HP distribution. Regular zombies can only be killed by headshots (and even that doesn’t always work). If you shoot them in the body, they often just absorb the damage. With armored zombies, it’s basically the same: you either kill them with a single headshot or they absorb six (!) shotgun shells and don’t die. Because of this, the variety of weapons becomes pointless, as it doesn’t really matter what you shoot with – the result is always pretty much the same. Melee weapons are completely useless because they take too long to hit the enemy, and in that time, you could get infected. The infection “feature” is poorly implemented and more frustrating than entertaining. Unlike in L4D2, where the zombies provide interesting gameplay, here you’re forced to play as a slow, completely average zombie that can’t do anything to the player. It hits weakly and moves slowly. So, if you start getting infected, you need to quickly find a syringe to avoid becoming a useless zombie. Otherwise, it’s probably better to restart the match than suffer through it. Enemies on the maps are either too few, or there are so many of them that you run out of ammo (because, as mentioned earlier, enemies can absorb tons of bullets). Going back to the “keys”: you can’t just pick them up; you MUST have a free slot for the item, because I can’t just put a keycard in my pocket, right? Fine, I understand that this is a gameplay mechanic, and I don’t mind it. But it’s one thing when you only need one “key,” and quite another when you need like four or more, and you have to use them repeatedly (so you either need to remember where you left them or carry them with you). On top of the boredom that accompanies you throughout the game, this becomes really annoying. In the end, there’s not much to say here: it’s just a game-containing product. Even by 2013 standards, it’s mediocre, let alone now. Playing in a group of 2-3 people is boring, and even more so solo. Maybe it’s more fun in a party of 10-15, but I have no idea what they’d be doing (like, searching for keys faster?). If the developer had focused more on one specific aspect of the game (action or survival), I think it could have been something better. Though, in my opinion, it’d be better to make a sequel than continue supporting a project like this for 12 years.
It's a charming game to play with good friends. I love that it allows for more than the standard 4-players.
Steam deck controls and UX are trash; game detects that it's running on Deck and hides most control options; it's a nightmare to set up good gyro aiming. Game is "feature complete" according to devs but there's an entire campaign listed as "coming soon". The available campaign is crap, with zombies spawning from nowhere and way too much time spent hunting for items. The second mission is not beatable solo without cheating (at least not with a controller) and isn't fun. The third mission is extremely dark and your dinky flashlight doesn't help. Brightness settings have no effect on the Steam Deck. There are armored zombies which can survive a full mag of assault rifle ammo directly in the face. ****ing stupid.
