Reviews
Absolutely recommended solid and smooth VR shooter. The art style looks great and the combat is fun and challenging. Ironic Sci-Fi B-move feel, great graphics, effects, sound and polish, great controls on different VR systems, you will find nothing of typical VR low quality clunkiness with this title. I am a picky and experienced VR player, I started hundreds of VR games and get discouraged of the quality but I always come back to play Compound apart of Half-Life: Alyx and few other quality titles. The game has got some randomisation of levels but each level going up the tower has got its own identity. The gameplay generates deep and fun combat encouraging movement and trying varied weapons and tactics. I like that the projectiles shot by some enemies are slow enough to be evaded by movement but still fast enough to test your reflexes, sometimes it can lead to scenarios like in bullet hell games. I haven't been able to beat the game yet but each new level is different and brings new design and interesting enemies. If you have a headset that allows higher refresh rate (120, 144 Hz or more) crank it up, the game is light on the GPU and will take advantage of even more time-resolution of movement. The games enemy characters are very lively and "real" despite the pixelated texture style just because the art in this case benefits from great sharpness and execution, they will bring some colourful and heart pounding arcade-style action in VR. If you just saw the trailer in 2D you may not realise how despite lack of typical "realism" immersive it feels inside the game in VR.
