Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

One of the games of my childhood, and one of the very first RTS games I ever played. For years, I had been wondering whether Command & Conquer was truly a great RTS, or merely a great early RTS — and yes, there is a difference. Does it still stand the test of time, or was it mostly a generational thing for millennials who happened to meet it at the right moment? Almost thirty years later, I came back looking for answers. Here are my honest thoughts. Sure, with hindsight, many things could have been done better. Some campaign missions could have been a little less “hardcore” — by which I mean infuriating, unforgiving, and sometimes demanding pixel-perfect micromanagement from the player. Some gameplay mechanics also feel arguably redundant today. I’m looking at you, silos and minimap-as-a-building. Infantry tends to die in the blink of an eye, and, even worse, your own units are sometimes so good at friendly fire that four flamethrower soldiers can easily turn each other in torches simply because they are standing in the wrong positions. And yet, we can only say this with the benefit of hindsight. For 1995, this was a massive leap forward compared to Westwood’s previous RTS, Dune II. And despite all the rough edges mentioned above, the game is still very playable — not least thanks to the excellent Remaster. If you commit to completing the whole campaign, you get something more than just an old strategy game. You get a surprisingly well-balanced mix of 90s Desert Storm-inspired military paranoia, grim sci-fi, subtle humor — see the Moebius sequences — and glorious B-movie energy. Even though much of the game is ultimately about building a huge horde of tanks and steamrolling the enemy, it constantly reminds you that war is fought on many levels: military, media, cyber, political, and even spiritual. So no, this is definitely not just a millennial nostalgia phenomenon. This is the beginning of a lineage that lasted for more than a decade — and sadly ended with C&C4 and browser games. A rough game in places, absolutely. But also a genuinely important and still impressive one.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
